TOXIC ASSETS

Nope, new name now "Legacy Assets". Is renaming the thing going to make a difference that the taxpayers are once again on the hook to the tune of another trillion to back these assets to be sold off to hedge funds? Guess Geithner did a little better as it as a small closed to camera thing. He did stumble a bit when he was asked if the average person which has a savings account now has to worry if it is secure. The FDIC is backing this and they have no "on hand" funds so they have to print it. The $750 Billion rest of the TARP will be used to also back these risks-again my money and yours. Now, the key is if these hedge funds with 95% taxpayer backing will want to do business with the government without something written into the deal about keeping hands of of their bonuses. Interesting...Linda

http://www.nytimes.com/2009/03/23/opinion/23krugman.html The NY Times is not known to be anti Obama. Essentially the taxpayer takes all of the risk if things do not improve-Linda

Please don't reference that guy, Linda.

I didn't say that, Linda.

I said that you can no longer count on the New York Times to report the news accurately and that the Washington Post has been the leading newspaper in the land for more than a decade now.

I'm sure if you're a New Yorker the cultural features of the Times are still appealing, but if you want to follow what's going on, stick with the Post.

Said I am not fond of the Times-like the Washington Post but many here believe they have a right wing slant. Coincidentally that seems to apply to anyone who does not favor government having their hands in everything. LOL Linda
