A DAY WITHOUT NEGATIVITY

Another Monday is upon us, and thus another opportunity to start the week off on a positive note. I've heard many theories on the power of positive thinking, and I've always brushed them off with a more than healthy dose of cynicism. So I've decided to conduct a little experiment. For one day, I'm going to try my darndest not to say anything negative about anyone or anything and see what happens. Will I fell better about others, myself, the world in general? In the very least, I can go to bed tonight knowing that I haven't caused anyone unintentional harm through my words. Anyone else care to go along for a ride on the happy bus?

But my internet went out last night just as I entered the last letter of the last Word Puzzle - didn't come on until mid morning. How could I possibly start my week without Sploofus?
Then again:
1 - It's my day off
2 - Went to the accountant and am getting money back from Uncle Sam
3 - Went and complained to the cable company about the internet outage and got $20 off my bill
4 - The internet's back on and I get to play a new WP about Lint. (Lint?????)

Trying to stay positive today. I've been on a serious diet since Friday, and it's starting to hurt. It's the first time for ages that drinking was even an option, quickly dismissed as a bad option though. I have much to be positive about, many that walked my path are either dead or wishing they were. I have a pretty good house, and no mortgage. I have kids that love me, and a dog that worships me. The body might be failing, but the brain still functions fairly well. Yeah, i can do another 24 hours.

Just saw your comment, Rowlanda - that's the next generation of ballet hunk - Baryshnikov.

I was fortunate enough to see him dance twice, but one of the great disappointments of my daughters' lives was that he missed the performance I took them to because of an injury. Talk about a long, expensive, grumpy evening!

Wonderful to see you posting again, hope you're doing well, dear lady.

My youngest was about 15 at the time, had taken ballet for years and she was absolutely shattered when we opened the program and the little slip fell out. She's still not over it and she's 40.

Love your thread I'm going to try it. You said in verbal terms right. If it is thoughts I'm done for already. My son-in-law, drives me crazy and I happen to live with daughter right now. However I will endeavor to be positive the rest of the day since he went to work and won't be home til later. I'll repeat my mantra I got in college, maybe that will help. Still haven't told anyone what it is so I really can keep secrets!

Last time I tried all positive words was 1985. My fellow editor at FlightSafety and I had a jar, and we were going to put a quarter in for each time we said something negative.

We were doing great till she got called into our "favorite" boss's office. When my friend returned, she didn't say a word. She went straight to her purse and started dumping change into the jar.

I'll try tomorrow for positive, though I did pretty well today anyway. I got sick of myself last week at school and decided no matter what the kids threw at me, I was going to throw back only positive attitude.

But I had to pray all the way through one class.

Whaddaya mean where is the credit? Saturday morning I got 50 TQOTD and 50,000 bonus points for the inconvenience caused by the crash. Maybe some of us are "special" and don't whine. Oh, I forgot, I also got 50 gift certificates to pass out among Sploofus friends, 50 ponies, 50 plane tickets to anywhere in the world I want to travel and take Sploofus friends and a new Corvette waiting when I return. So there, does that answer your question, I got it all, none left over, nada, and I'm only sharing with the Sploofusers who didn't whine. Justin, well, he kept a list, and checked it twice, he found out who was naughty or nice. The names of 49 people who didn't whine will be picked from that list in a random drawing two weeks from March 10, 2009.

Thank you everyone for coming along for the ride! It certainly was interesting to say the least, but I know I'm going to bed feeling more positive about human kind and the world in general.

P.S. To answer Nancy's question, Monkeynips is actually an obscure reference to "Who's Afraid of Virginia Wolfe" by Edward Albee. There's a story behind this choice in user name, but I digress...

P.P.S. Oh, and Thedon, I'm sending warm, fuzzy thoughts of rainbows, fluffy pink clouds, pastel colored teddy bears singing songs of love and friendship, and recovered QOTD points your way. Hugs!

2. Mail a pair of my old tights and a tranquilizer to Smaug
- talk, talk, talk to your wife and stop with the violence
3. Apologise to all the Mikhail fans for my incorrect

4. I'll end the day by solving all of the World's problems,
ending Poverty, and bringing about Peace in our time

LOL Jank.

I'm just glad I did my positivity experiment yesterday. Today while cleaning the house I managed to slice open my thumb which began to bleed profusely, suffer a minor electric shock while dusting the entertainment center, drop a bag of charcoal on my foot, slip on my freshly waxed kitchen floor and crack my tailbone, and vacuum up a portion of my pants leg. What ensued was a good three hours of expletives that would make a sailor blush. On a positive note, at least I managed to get the vacuum cleaner turned off before it sucked up part of my leg with the pants.

Note to Self: look into an affordable cleaning service
