HEADS UP

I just took an Editor's Award quiz and found 10-12 glaring errors of spelling, grammar and terminology.
Apart from wondering how they got past the editor who gave it an award, one wonders how an author capable of making that many and those kinds of mistakes can be counted on to provide accurate content, which the editors don't check at all. That doubt right there is potentially very dangerous to a user-built site like this, where everything hinges upon our trust in each other's conscientiousness as authors, right?

I'm going to be very unpopular very quickly, as I have taken to writing notes (sweet and polite as they might be) to quiz authors when I know for sure that the question and/or answer is wrong. I just took a science quiz (about the only subject where I feel 100% sure of myself) that had a whole bunch of terrible errors - at least it didn't also have an Editors Award! I wrote to the constructor and suggested how (s)he could easily fix it. Its a good thing that the thrown tomatoes cannot come through the cable modem!! Alice

Personally, I've had people inform me when I've made a mistake and thankfully, they were nice about it and I appreciated them letting me know rather than having low ratings because of something I could have fixed. Rarely, tho there have been a few times, I didn't change the quiz because of a difference of opinion.

Yeah I think I just found the one you mean, Bigbird. It's pretty alarming.
The editors are evidently too few in number and have too little time. By looking only for spelling, grammar and 'family content', the statement 'An electron are bleu, dammit' becomes 'Electrons are blue', but it's still wrong.
It might be time to expand the ranks of worker bees, eliminate the mystique and exclusivity of editing and just pass the science questions through bigbird for confirmation, the movie questions through noncentz and kimmie, medicine through Dr. violet, etc. The present editors could continue to be mysterious and all-powerful and write TQOTD and WordPuzzles and so forth, but methinks those overworked folks need some help from us in making sure the quality of the quizzes is maintained.
Cheers

Bigbird 9Alice00, will personally never find that quiz as I am such a dunce in anything to do with dates, mathematics, or science that I don't take the quizzes. Hate to appear stupid but will not give a quiz a low score because i didn't do well. Maybe if i tried them might learn something-think???
