I am very afraid of Black Mamba snakes. They grow to 15 feet long, and they are the world's fastest snake, up to 13 miles an hour, no way could you outrun them. They are one of the most poisonous snakes in the world, and they are very mean and aggressive and will chase you. It would totally suck to be attacked by a Black Mamba snake. Good thing they only live in Africa. No way am I going to Africa.

So, who's really old, and remembers Flanders & Swann's "I'm a Gnu"?
This prompted me to go a googling - and here is the chorus:

'I'm a Gnu, I'm a Gnu
The g-nicest work of g-nature in the zoo
I'm a Gnu, How do you do
You really ought to k-now w-ho's w-ho's
I'm a Gnu, Spelt G-N-U
I'm g-not a Camel or a Kangaroo
So let me introduce,
I'm g-neither man nor moose
Oh g-no g-no g-no I'm a Gnu'

a couplew of contributions to the conversation.
At the turn of the 19th century The French introduced an art style that has stuck with us since then: Art Gnuveau

And in Yiddish you can conclude a sentence with the word Gnu?
It means 'Isn't that so?'

So 'That was an Art Gnuveau Gnu Gnu?' means 'That was a stylish Gnu wasn't it?'

Good Gnus
(A Vignette in Verse)

When cares attack and life seems black,
How sweet it is to pot a yak,
Or puncture hares and grizzly bears,
And others I could mention;
But in my Animals "Who's Who"
No name stands higher than the Gnu;
And each new gnu that comes in view
Receives my prompt attention.

When Afric's sun is sinking low,
And shadows wander to and fro,
And everywhere there's in the air
A hush that's deep and solemn;
Then is the time good men and true
With View Halloo pursue the gnu;
(The safest spot to put your shot
is through the spinal column).

To take the creature by surprise
We must adopt some rude disguise,
Although deceit is never sweet,
And falsehoods don't attract us;
So, as with gun in hand you wait,
Remember to impersonate
A tuft of grass, a mountain-pass,
A kopje or a cactus.

A brief suspense, and then at last
The waiting's o'er, the vigil past;
A careful aim. A spurt of flame.
It's done. You've pulled the trigger,
And one more gnu, so fair and frail,
Has handed in its dinner-pail;
(The females all are rather small,
The males are somewhat bigger).

-- P. G. Wodehouse.

Films: Top Gnu, Pretty Wildebeast (starring Gnulia Roberts), Gnus are Forever, The Perfect Wildebeast
Film dislikes: Gnu Alone
Musicals: My Fair Gnu
Operas: anything by Gnuiseppe Verdi
Sports Teams: The Gnnuers (Arsenal), Gnucastle United
Warning beware of a wildebeast with Supergnu!
Holiday spots: Gnu Nealand, Gnu England and Gnu Mexico (Gnu York City isn't really their scene)
They are Gnudists too.

Never try to reassure a wildebeast by saying No gnus is good gnus
It's pretty tense in the herd right now anyway. Besides with all the advances in technology they are worried about being replaced by machine gnus.
There are also a group of gnu age wildebeasts.
