Last week, I received a notice that my current subscrription runs out April 6th and I am invited to renew it, preferably as a Platinum. I could do this with a few clicks on the old keyboard but I don't think so. PapermanBill would take over this name but there "Will" have to be some changes. Incorrect and unfair questions, as well as cranky + unfair editors will be removed
would be a good start. Mister "J" should pop up once in awhile and address some of his "to-do list". Has anyone suggested a reduction in membership fee with this great economy situation. I have a little more than 18 hours to renew, any words of wisdom to stay.

I sure hope you renew. I don't know that I have any words of wisdom other than I think Justin is working his butt off for us. When the system crashed a couple weeks back he was up all night just getting us back up and then it took much of the next day to get everything right. My sense is he's constantly there in the background, but I guess a quick pop-in that says "Hi folks, how are ya?" is not a bad idea.
Don't know what issues you had with the eds but I can say that yesterday the WP would not start for me twice (on the first screen I got no puzzle and no clue) and they were great about getting me a restart both times very quckly.
As for cost and the economy - I think Gold membership is a bargain compared to most other internet (or for that matter any form of) entertainment.
Hope to keep seeing you around.

I also am up for renewal. For the enjoyment I get and the number of minutes a week I'm here, it's worth much more than the platinum price to me.

I spend more than that each week driving to and from work, which is one of the reasons I NEED to spend time here decompressing. Driving in metroplex traffic is like driving through a war zone. I've seen 3 fatal crashes in the past 6 months.

Also, we want Justin to spend more time here and incorporate more of our suggestions. He can't do that with LESS money.

And here, we all get to contribute, as though we are partial owners.

I have to admit, also, as a platinum member I don't feel so bad when I express my point of view, though all the world be against me.

Membership has its privileges.

I agree JJ cars should be banned. You do have at least one friend. So smile back, cause at least one persons is smiling at you.

Yes, a paying membership for anyone who enjoys trivia and has a competitive spirit is the way to go.
Anyone who joined Sploofus [in the past few years] has both! The changes have been great and some of the "bugs" will be fixed over time.
Even having a personalized avatar is worth a few bucks. We are......................... Sploofus.

I hope you renew Bill.

Go ahead and renew. The Demigods or Editors as they are known here, get a bad rap because only a handful are truly jerks. A lot of them are cool folks once you figure out who is who. To the one that sent a nasty email to me on a personal email account (used only for my TQOTD and nothing else) you prove my point about having to hide from the other players. If the majority of the editors help Justin then we must tolerate them all. Have a Blessed Day!

What Jank said. I don't have her daily commute, but I'm working far too many hours for an old retired person. Sometimes its at-home computer stuff, in which case I can take a break every once in awhile and pop in and play. Sometimes I drive far too many hours, and then have to do high energy professional developments where I am the show, and come home like the traditional dishrag. It's nice to know that this site is here.

I would be really unhappy if I weren't platinum. Though I hardly write quizzes anymore, cause my brain is usually fried, I try to catch every wordpuzzle, and try to write some from time to time. I enjoy the site, and my friends here. I even enjoy watching others fight - though I don't have the desire to join in.

I thought I'd be content being gold when I came back because I originally upgraded for word rounds, but I hardly ever play them anymore. The limit on the WTH guesses had just about won me back to plat when my daughters gifted me before Christmas. I expect I'll renew it when the time comes (unless Santa does - hint hint ). Damn good bargain, big bang for the amusement buck at about $1.50 per week.

In tough economic times, people are finding places to cut back. Economics may not be your reason, but if it is, gold membership is about 7 cents a day and platinum is 22 cents a day. If you play daily and enjoy it, then it's probably the best bargain I can think of. If you're not getting value for less than a quarter a day, then the choice is easy.

In either event, I've enjoyed your contributions to Sploofus, Bill, especially your Kerblunks.

I'm a mere "Goldie", but i think the site offers real value. Re the editors. On the whole they've treated me pretty well, and i've had close to 200 quizzes and Ker-Blunks published in less than 4 months. I think they are a little too concerned about keeping the site anticeptically "clean". I have had questions returned that appeared on family time TV here in Britain. Should we have an 18+ section? I'm not advocating porn or abuse, just a little space to be amusing in an adult way. It is also very hard to compose Ker-Blunks when some editors allow you to only use one word as a possible answer. I think two words, as some editors allow, would mean better Ker-Blunks.

I don't know if this helps. I definitely plan to be gold member. I became a member on site because it was free. I am currently unemployed. I would like to contribute something to site because I love it. However, just since I became member 3 months ago I noticed all the ads. Also when I authored a quiz the editors were very specific. Not all quizzes I have done have been edited as well. All in all it is worth it and I plan to be paying member. However, just because you are a platinum member does not mean your opinion counts for more.

Rules say 18 and above but its not enforced. Its been a source of contention for me for years.

When I left, my platinum was up for renewal. When I returned, I had not intended to purchase a membership because the free membership was fine for all I intended to do. I was gifted with platinum and gold, for which I am still humbly grateful, although never received notice of the latter. I am enjoying taking the WP's twice a day, and I do get a kick out of changing my avatar frequently. But I'm still discouraged that things that were promised to be fixed a year ago remain unfixed.

But there are so many of you that I missed, and new friends I've made since my return, that I'm glad to be back.

Bobo - I absolutely agree that opinions are on an equal/level playing field here.

I need our twice daily fix of WPs. It is about the only thing I do except when hubbie and I writes WPs, which we love doing. Jim, however, is on hours and hours a week writing quizzes and he is only a gold.

All in all, we love this site and its members and will renew when the time comes.

Writing WPs is more fun for me at the moment than writing quizzes.
(Whether its more fun for the membership.... who knows)

Taking WPs was my main reason for going gold, but the wager tokens -- being able to use them that is -- is another plus.

It is also my instinct that in the last 12 months Justin and the editors have been far more proactive in finding reasons to persuade people to go platinum; and everything they have tried seems to have worked pretty well.
