CLASSIC MOVIES

I'm looking for suggestions on movies to view. What is your favorite classic movie(s)? Recommendations?

I bet you have seen these. But here goes, Mr Blandings Dream House. Or The Citadel with Rosalind Russell and Robert Donet. Okay for fun how about Hole in Your Head with Frank Sinatra. I just saw Streetcar Named Desire again for the umpteenth time. That is all for now. When I get off I will think of 10 more.

The only one I've seen that you mentioned was A Streetcar Named Desire--great movie! I'll check out the other ones you listed. Thanks! If you think of more, let me know.

If you've never seen "The Night of the Hunter" (1955), I highly recommend checking it out. It is the only film directed by actor Charles Laughton and it is a gem! Outstanding performances by Lillian Gish and Shelley Winters, but the show belongs to Robert Mitchum as the crazed preacher Harry Powell. No other film of it's time, or any other time for that matter, looks or feels like this one.

I just saw Night of the Hunter. What a great cast! Robert Mitchum is especially creepy in his role.

Wow, Night of the Hunter, definitely creepy. Robert Mitchum, he is a great old star. What a tough guy. I love "Heaven Knows Mr. Allison. Cape Fear, he was in the original with Gregory Peck. One of my favorites old stars is Greer Garson. Mrs. Minniver, Goodbye Mr. Chips, Pride and Prejudice.

Hi all--thanks for the suggestions. You can get A Tree Grows in Brooklyn on Amazon.com, but warning, it's over $130. The other two versions are Spanish editions. Maybe you could rent it from Netflix. Just an idea...I'm not sure why some films aren't available. I'm still waiting on The Farmer's Daughter.
