Today I got yet another Music and Musicians QOTD - that's three in a row.

However, today I had never heard of the song or of any of the 5 artists (from the 70s).

Vocabulary, please!

I just did my last 10 TQOTD. The last four (and five out of 10) were Geography. I haven't seen a Sports or Potpourri in over two weeks. This never happened during the Bush Administration!

Since my return, I've had 3 music questions, only 2 vocabs, and I've not once seen a movies question. Mostly geography and world events.

I'm not a mathematician so anything that follows is my 'intelligent' guess not a fact....

In any ten questions - if there are seven subjects you might get:

You figure to get one set of three (obviously not 3 geog but three of something)
You figure NOT to get one subject.

You dont often have 10 questions waiting for you so most of us dont have Felix's experience; but your skewed memories distort what you actually receive.

Let's look at people's preference: how many times do you get someone writing in to say 'I only like vocab and i got two in three days -- its not fair!'. You only notice getting the questions you dont want (or getting vocab when you ahave no wager tokens left).

As someone who only takes vocab questions for wagers I do notice when I get them; it's slightly more often than one in ten over three years...which is after all as it should be; I notice the 30 day gaps more than the three in ten because when i get the subjects I like it does not register as much.

And in the long run someone WILL get screwed every month; if they didn't the distribution would not be random!
Its all about perception not reality -- sorry to pour water on the pet theories.

Having only returned last month, my perception is not skewed. That's exactly how many of those particular categories I have received. But thanks for your concern.

I took all ten this morning. A successful (yet meager) wager with Movies and TV. I got 2 of The Geography correct as well as a Vocabulary one. Ted Williams would be proud of the .400 batting average. give me Potpourri for my wagers every time. It's not my best but it is a safe one.
