Nanpaulhus won contest #4. Therefore, they will give us the phrase for contest #5.

As with the previous lines, entrants can feel free to place punctuation anywhere they like.

Please write one, then judge them. We need both ends of this working to keep it going.

The rules will be the same as before. Write your story and PM it to Tuzilla. I will collect them for posting as a group. The stories can be any length up to a typewritten page. The only editing will be for censoring the occasional expletive. I used one in my story, so don't feel as though they are banned outright.

I am leaving for Breezewood, PA with a bus on Thursday, so we will collect as we can. We'll gather entries for about a week or so.

Okay, Tuzilla. You didn't change my gender/sex like that last winner, but I've got multiple personalities? heh Well, my kids say I do, so maybe you're not on the wrong track there.

I hope the sentence is not too mundane... Or not challenging enough. It's really hard to come up with something. Harder than coming up with a story!

Please write folks! I can't compete again til someone else wins!

Nancy (female)

No one could see the yellow flower in front of me
because there wasn't one..
I was wondering lonely in the clouds....
eating Philly cheese,
served by my handsome manservant

Nice Rowlanda, but you have to submit it to Tuz!

So, how could anyone see it after you stepped on it?

I am very glad for your prognosis. Your determination is testament. XOxo, JIM (I'd say more but, they are watching)

Does anyone know if the phrase has to be at the end of the story, or just used somewhere in it? Thanks!

It's been my understanding that the line can be used anywhere in the story. Correct me if I'm wrong on this one Steve.

It can be used anywhere in the story, and punctuated anyway you wish within the legal bounds of grammar. Just done add, subtract or change words.

Just to say I think these short stories competitions are a great idea and look forward to writing the current challenge. What are your views about also having a poetry contest?

oooo ooo ooooo poetry. I likes poetry.

Rhyming or non-rhyming?

Rythmic or non-rythmic?

Rhyming and rythmic, or rhyming and non-rythmic?

Non-rhyming and rythmic, or non-rhyming and non-rythmic?

Anyone for sonnets? Haiku? Quadrilles? Espadrilles? (no wait, those are shoes....)
If so, fill me in on the requirements for those, I dun remembuh.

No one can fault you had a rhythm thing going on!
