Can anyone enlighten me on badges - how to acquire them, how many times you have to get a high score, how you identify what the different badges are for etc? I saw the thread about veteran Sploofusers having to achieve a lower percentage than newbies, but the rest is a total mystery. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I hope this is the right forum for this question. Might also post it on Ask the Audience. Cheers!

Badges in what category? Are you talking editor awards? The little things beside your name when you play word rounds?

I mean the 'Badges and awards' that appear when you click on your public user profile.

From Sploofus Help page:

My category badges are missing

When one first begins playing Sploofus, it is extremely easy to have lots of badges because you have only been asked a few questions in each category. New players only have to answer 3 or 4 questions correctly in a particular category to show 100% proficiency (60% is even easier).

Veteran players who have been served hundreds of questions in each category are at a severe disadvantage to the new players.

To solve this problem, and allow newer player's badges to carry the same significance as a veteran player's badge, the accuracy percentage is adjusted depending on how long you have been playing Sploofus.

Here is the minimum percentage cutoff for diplaying badges, depending on how long you have been Sploofusing:

Less than 2 weeks: 100% accuracy in category
2-4 Weeks: 97% minimum accuracy in category
4-6 Weeks: 94% minimum accuracy
6-8 Weeks: 91%
8-10 Weeks: 88%
10-12 Weeks: 85%
12-14 Weeks: 82%
14-16 Weeks: 79%
16-18 Weeks: 76%
18-21 Weeks: 73%
21-25 Weeks: 70%
25-29 Weeks: 67%
29-33 Weeks: 64%
33-37 Weeks: 60%
37-41 Weeks: 55%
42 Weeks or older: 50% minimum accuracy in category

Thanks for the info Nelly. I'm still wondering, though, how many times you have to get, say, 91% in Vocabulary, before you get a badge. Also, I want to be able to identify one of the badges I've got (a star on a green background with what looks like an alpha symbol) and there doesn't seem to be a guide for that. If I know what I'm doing, I'll go on a major badge hunt!

That alpha symbol is a badge of seniority, rather than achievement. Another week or three of membership on the site, and it will become a beta.

Cool! Thanks, Kaufman.

Aristotle, you have a badge in movies and television. It is below your veteran badge. This is where other badges will appear when you earn them - good luck!

Thanks, Knerd! I'm just greedy for more badges.

the only badge that matters, it is the badge of courage for taking difficult quizzes, getting hammered and starting again the next day knowing we do not really know that much about everything....
