KENTUCKY DERBY

The 'Run for the Roses' takes place tomorrow at Churchill Downs -- I look forward to the Derby every year. The most exciting 2 minutes in sports. 3 of the top 4 contenders have pedigrees back to A. P. Indy, son of Seattle Slew. My favorite long-shot General Quarters is also of A.P. Indy lineage. (That Slew was one heck of a stallion ). My favorite jockey (Calvin Borel) rode the winner Rachel Alexandra in today's Kentucky Oaks, he rode Street Sense to win the 2007 Kentucky Derby, and he'll be riding long-shot (50-1) Mine That Bird in tomorrow's Derby race. I wish I had the nerve (and $$$?) to bet heavy on the last one. Thoroughbreds are exquisite creatures. I love all this!!

i think it's gonna be 'Friesan Fire' with 'General Quarters' and 'I Want Revenge' nipping at his heels.

All of these 3 yr-olds are magnificent .. it's going to be one exciting race. i can hardly wait to watch.

OH NO!!! That's how this business goes -- lost the Pamplemousse and another recently, they are so fragile.

Like your picks, I'd bet GQ 3-way for sure.

(I should be working in this business)

It would be wonderful for trainer Larry Jones if Friesan Fire wins -- he's retiring (so he says), his other entry, favored Old Fashioned, was scratched. He was also trainer of Eight Belles who had to be euthanized on the track.

Well, off to the races!!

I'm singing My Old Kentucky Home as we speak.

The jockey of the horse who got scratched today is a 19 year old kid from New Orleans. Sad.

I am crying. My friend told me to bet the farm on that 50-1 odds horse ridden by favorite jockey. I didn't get down to the betting place, and now I'm sobbing!!! I had 2 $100 bills in my purse.

Boo hoo boo hoo
