I thought we were not supposed to get ads on the site?

Most enjoyable -- Oscar Wilde would have said "I wish I'd written that puzzle"

Somebody went to the trouble of composing it, so i won't say anything harsh. Let's just say "Not to my liking at all". It would be a sad world if we all liked the same things.

I must have missed the point of that puzzle.

Was there even a point that was awful, and i usually enjoy the puzzles but did not enjoy this one, oh well different strokes for different folks. charlotte

I adored it! Somehow I got the inkling very early on, and it was lots of fun figuring them out. Way to go!

When the Wordpuzzle is over after the one tonight is available, would someone please explain it to me? Guess I'm a little dense, but never did get it and lost almost every point I had.

What the hell was that??? First time I have ever bailed on a puzzle. Just didn't get it whatsoever.

I caught on too late and had already blown 10,000 moves.

Wish I could do it over now.

I had 80 moves but was too embarrased to submit it. I like words like and, the, etc.
We should get a discount just for taking the puzzle!

Certainly didn't inspire me to go out and buy a membership.

Sorry, Nanpaulhus, your post had to be deleted for giving away a little too much about the word puzzle. A copy of your post will be sent to you via PM, and you can repost after the puzzle is over.

Thank you!

I did not like this one either. I had 25 moves on the first puzzle! I bailed too, could not make sense of it.

I thought it was great once I figured it out. Unfortunately, it took me 21 moves to figure it out.
21 moves for the first 2 puzzles, 3 moves for the last 3 - tooooooo sloooooooow.

There wasn't much chance of my post giving too much away. I still don't have a clue what it was all about.

Really frikking awful. Sorry, whoever. Maybe I'm just clueless, but I hated it.

It was short so I stumbled through it-no offense -but am with the group who thought it a totally awful puzzle-

hahahahaha - I'm with you, Cloggs. I just WISH I was smart enough to know something to accidentally leak information.

So glad it wasn't just me. I really dreaded reading that other people had such fun with it - I baled out after solving the first clue.

Sure wish I read Nan's deleted post before taking this WP. It would have saved me a lot of headscratching and random letter tapping.

Hello all,

It took me three puzzles before having a clue about the full WP. However, I did not really like it but I respect the work done on it.

Alvandy, we had to delete your post too. The double entendre might have been interpreted correctly. Very clever, though! Feel free to repost once the puzzle has ended.

Nice one, Sploofernatural!

Worked it out after completing 1st puzzle in a zillion moves and losing 1100 points - after that it was fun trying to guess the remaining 4 puzzles from the clues - managed in another 7 moves (kicking myself for an incorrect guess on the last puzzle)!

Also kicking myself for reading Al's post after I'd completed puzzle - dang it, that first one would have been so much easier!

I love this kind of puzzle.

A lot of head scratching on the first two puzzles and lost a ton of points but then I had a "hey I get it!!" moment and loved figuring out the other three.

Very clever Sploofernatural, thanks.

Right now I've taken a break from blowing letters on my first WP, deciding whether to bail. I hoped the chat would help, but I guess the ones that would have already gotten deleted. Well... back to wasting letters again. BBS.

I'm BAAAAAK. OK, I got part of it after the first WP, and was doing the thing without a clue of why, until it hit me on the last WP . I agree, it IS cute and clever! You wouldn't know it from my score, though.

Took 22 moves on the first one, then stared at it FOREVER.....then "lightbulb went off". Then 12 moves only on the last four! Wish we had "gotten it" right off the bat!

We thought this was intensely clever!

I did the lamest thing in WP history. After about 10 moves, I figured out it was PT upgraded from AU.
On two subsequent puzzles, I spelled the answer with an AU instead of a PT. Agggghhhh.

Garrybl  (Level: 294.3 - Posts: 6806)

Were there any OR going to PT or was it all chemical symbols?

In any event I loved the idea, and though I wasted a vast number of guesses on my first puzzle I liked the test.

I was busted? For what?
Thanks for saying my post was clever, but I protest such crass censorship.

Okay, I'll withdraw my protest.
[I did think my post would slip by the sharp editorial staff]

It's just part of my "chemistry", I suppose.

Kudos [to my editor Sploofernatural] for authoring the crass Sploofus "commercialism" puzzle anyway.

I LOVED this WP. Figured it out on the 1st one, after 15 moves! Strategy - put PT in first and work around it. I had never heard of one answer. It wasn't easy, that's for sure -- but it was fun. I ended up in 53rd place.

Loved the WP....such a clever idea to substitute all Gold
for Platinum, even though I too forgot on the last puzzle
and left the AU in, instead of PT....
Love these twists and turns in the WPs.Unique ideas

I loved this word puzzle, but then I love chemistry! I also enjoy challenging head-scratchers. I thought this was very clever. Thanks for a lot of fun!

I must be an idiot!!! I NEVER did figure it out but I decided to hang in there and continue instead of bailing! That was a mistake...I actually got a -200!!! Happily though, when my score came up it posted as a ZERO!!! Now at least I know what happens when you use all 5000 points up! I did not enjoy this puzzle at all. Still have no clue what the heck it was about!

I liked it -- figured out the AU/PT substitution on the first puzzle -- then went on to make typo after typo wrecking my score. Oh well . . . . .

Reminds me of the time I went to a karaoke bar and heard an alchemist sing Golder of the Pack ...

For anyone who is still confused:

All of the puzzles contained words with 'au' in them, like 'daughter' (AU is the chemical symbol for gold).

The 'au' in the word was replaced with 'pt' (chemical symbol for platinum) - resulting in words like 'dptghter'

Hence the idea that GOLD was upgraded to PLATINUM!
