ATTENTION ALL PLATINUM WP AUTHORS!

Welcome to all new Platinum members! Writing word puzzles is one of the many fun and exciting perks of Platinum membership.

We're in the process of assigning new authors to editors. Once that has been completed, you'll be hearing from your editor via private message. That PM will serve as a link between you and your editor for all communications related to word puzzles. Using that link, you will submit your word puzzles, ask questions, and so on.

If you haven't already, we suggest you read the "Revised Guide to Word Puzzle Authoring," which can be found in the Hotwire forum here: http://www.sploofus.com/bbs_detail.sp?post=86840&cID=1

It provides information you'll need for writing your word puzzles.

Thank you for your patience, and we're looking forward to your submissions!

We'd also like to say that we've been delighted by the popularity and success of the "10 Things About Me" Community Word Puzzles! We'd like to remind all Platipuzzle authors that if you haven't yet written a "10 Things About Me" WP and would like to, you still can! One "10 Things About Me" WP per Platipuzzle author.

If you're interested in writing a 10 Things about Famous Person, Group, Fictional Character, etc., we'd also welcome these submissions. You can write as many of these WPs as you like.

Please remember to use the clues we provided. They are:

A like
A dislike
An early memory
A fear
A perfect moment
An embarrassing moment
Ack! Never again!
If I won $1,000,000
Place I'd like to visit
My first job

The original announcement about the Community Word Puzzle program is here if you'd like to view it: http://www.sploofus.com/bbs_detail.sp?post=138690&cID=7

We do plan to be announcing new Community WP themes in the near future.

Once again, if you are a Platinum member and don't have a word puzzle editor yet, one will be assigned to you shortly.

Thank you and have fun!

How about a reminder to all Platipuzzlers who have either forgotten their assigned editors or didn't initially want to take part, but now do?
Pretty please?!
:D

Thank you for the suggestion!

If you had a PM link to a word puzzle editor at one time but no longer have it, please submit a support ticket, and your editor will send you a new link.

Thank you.

For easy reference, there is also a thread in Hotwire with information on the "10 Things About Me" community word puzzles: http://www.sploofus.com/bbs_detail.sp?post=138694&cID=1

If you've never written a word puzzle before, it's an easy way for you to get started and introduce yourself to word puzzle aficionados.

I've just sent a new link to all of my Platipuzzle authors in case you've misplaced the last one. I can't wait to see your submissions!

I have also greeted and reminded my Platipuzzlers in recent days: thank you for your responses!
Make sure you keep your links back to your WP editor.

There will be more themed Community Word Puzzles, more Contests and other challenging developments......stay tuned!
In the meantime, feel free to contribute a puzzle on your choice of theme, via your editor.

Make sure you read the thread on WP Authoring in BBS Hotwire.

A reminder -- If you are a Platinum member and no longer have your link to your word puzzle editor, please submit a support ticket. Your WP editor will send you a new link.

In the course of working with new Platipuzzle authors, some questions have come up that we'd like to respond to:

1. Yes, Platipuzzle authors can take their own word puzzles. Just please remember to fill in all the letters. We hope that it's helpful for authors to see how their work actually plays as a puzzle.

2. Authors need to write 10 clues and 10 phrases. Each player receives only five clues and phrases, but we need authors to provide 10 altogether, and then the system generates games randomly to each player.

3. What to write about? My colleague Sploofishy offered some excellent suggestions on this in the past:

"The puzzle can be about what ever you would like it to be about -- within the usual confines of our family-friendly website. As far as suggestions for inspiration, my first word puzzle was something I knew well - 'Things found in my parents' basement.' I just basically did a bit of reminiscing. A number of my more successful word puzzles have been like that. The nice thing is that they don't have to be complete thoughts -- a list of names or images or factoids..."

That post can be found in this thread: http://www.sploofus.com/bbs_detail.sp?post=79263&cID=7
(Please note that that thread contains some outdated information regarding maximum number of characters allowed for phrases.)

4. Here's a tip for new authors -- Read your phrases out loud a few times. This will help avoid awkward constructions. This trick can work even with wordplay puzzles.

If you have further questions, please feel free to ask or talk with your word puzzle editor.

Thank you all for your fun contributions!

My editor is Sploofizz and YOU CAN'T HAVE HIM/HER.

S/HE rocks and s/he is all mine. All mine, do you hear??

(And Slicko's too, I suppose)

Beth, your faith and dedication are humbling. But the truth is each Editor who works with Platinum Puzzle writers has about 14 on their roster. Not all of them are consistent writers (like you and Slicko) so there is plenty of room for more!

Every Platinum player should at least write one WP to see what's it's like
