Yup, great puzzle.

My mother of a score just indicates too well that I've never been one ...

However, the puzzle was superlative, Donna.

Very special puzzle. Some beautiful thoughts and tributes. Kudos to Smoke for authoring.

And once again, here's a fitting song that always chokes me up on this day. It's time for an accounting.

Happy Mothers Day to all Moms.

How cool - what a fantastic thread! Thank you every single one.

I hope everyone had a fabulous day. My dear husband waited on me hand and foot all weekend. We just hung out together watching racing and movies and playing with the dogs. The kids called, I got pretty comfy nighties in the mail, my best friend gave me wind chimes for outside the bedroom window, and Sunday afternoon John went to Sticky Fingers and brought back a feast. What did you moms do all day?

Here are all 10 phrases. It started out to be trivia but turned into something else along the way. I left the trivia in because I thought it was neat and because it's part of who I am, and nobody knows it better than my kids, who have been bombarded by factoids all their lives. They have their own shorthand for it - PNIBT (p'nibbit) - Perhaps Not Interesting But True.

we are called mom in the us mum in england and mam in wales and ireland (Infants have accents?)
modern mothers day is on a fixed sunday and ancient mothering sunday floats (Let's celebrate both!)
honor paid in public by washington lincoln nixon carter clinton and others ("I owe it all to mother.")
when the teacher says she wishes she had a whole class just like your kid (A mom's proud moment)
that she may someday need her children as much as they once needed her (A mother worries...)
it would be to have all my children miraculously together for this day (If I had just one wish...)
to bless her children with an abundance of happy childhood memories (A mother hopes...)
my real treasures are wood and clay shaped by small hands long ago (Candy, roses are nice but...)
more than anything else thank you for the wonderful grandchildren (A mother's gratitude)
may all our children and all our parents see this day through safe and well (A mother's blessing)

Thanks again, I'm so glad you liked it, it was a "labor" of love.

Those are all great - especially proud moment. I love that one!

Oh. I mowed. In the rain. It was either that or go to jail.

(I had lunch with the kids first. Chilis gave us TWO free appetizers and gave each mom a rose yesterday. What a great little restaurant - we don't have many to choose from in a small town.)

It's a crime in Texas to mow on a sunny day?

Jank0614  (Level: 67.1 - Posts: 4593)
Mon, 11th May '09 10:48 PM

No, silly.

Apparently SUNNY DAYS in Texas are now illegal.

(The sun peaked out for a few minutes this afternoon. Apparently it scared some trigger-happy fool so bad he shot it out and it immediately got cloudy dark again. My apologies to the earth, but he did cure global warming in one swell foop.)
