Those of us who write quizzes remember the time a few months ago when there were 300 and more quizzes in the queue. It was frustrating that it took over a week for our quizzes to appear. Gratefully, that situation has now passed, although while the editors were working hard shortening the queue, our quizzes stayed on the front page only 2 or 3 hours.

Last night, Australian time, I launched a quiz just before I went to bed. It said that there were 18 quizzes ahead of it, which has been the norm for the past couple of weeks. Just for interest's sake, I noted the names of quizzes on Trivia Quizzes, Kerblunks and TriviaSquares which had just been published. This morning, my quiz had gone live. But, during the night, only two other quizzes had gone live.

What happened to the other 16 quizzes? Were they so bad that the editors had to send them back for revision? Do I have fans amongst the editors who give me preference in publishing my quizzes? If I have, I'm not complaining.

The situation is unusual and must surely be frustrating for the authors of the 16 quizzes which are being delayed. What experience have other authors had with the speed or otherwise of their quizzes being accepted?

What probably happened in at least some cases was that a quiz was returned for correction and not remitted by the setter.
I also sent in a quiz last night --it went live in ten minutes..the list was 15 at that time.

Those "phantom" quizzes are ones that were sent back for corrections, and have since been resubmitted. They sit there until the editor who owns them comes back on line. During the interim, newly submitted quizzes will jump passed them.

The number you see does include the "owned" quizzes which are in the process of being revised and re-edited. There is no way for any editor to pick and choose which quizzes they will edit next.

If I go to the edit screen and click on EDIT, I am given the oldest owned quiz in my personal queue, if there are any, otherwise I get the oldest one in the queue of not-yet-edited. From there I only have three choices: launch it, return it, or save it for later. If I choose to save it, I cannot edit any other quizzes until I have dealt with that one, which is now at the top of my "owned" queue.

I hope this demystifies some of the process.

Oklay, I don't understand...I wrote a quiz on May 8 that says there are still 12 ahead of it. Since then I have written two others, both of which have gone live. The May 8 quiz has never been sent back to me for revision. Why would it be held up?

An editor may have taken it on, not been able to finish, and then not been able to get back online since then. Not likely, but a possibility.

A quiz that gets held up may have raised a red flag with language, info too similar to something found on another site or in another quiz, or have some other problem that the editors wanted to discuss before taking action.

If your quiz was a Ker-Blunk, we are scrutinizing those very closely since several have been launched that shouldn't have been, so they are often being reviewed by more than one editor.

My quizzes have been going through quite quickly, except one. I wrote a quiz about the quotes of Ann Coulter, it's been returned once, but has now been sitting there for about a week. I have already been made to change the image, i chose a cartoon of her face, but it was rejected. Strange i've been "allowed" to use such images before, Thatcher springs to mind. I've also been told i'm not allowed to cast an opinion, so apparently i wouldn't be allowed to write "God is great" either. I wonder.
