THREAD POLICE

Long before I became so unpopular for my anti- Obama posts, was really berated for trying to direct people to the other forums like "Ask the Audience" when they have a question as was labeled the "Thread Police" After that I complained a great deal about t the same thing that Godwit and Summertime are complaining about and was offered CHEESE to go with my Whine. In short both of those hurt my feelings to the point that I quit. "Salty Dog' is pretty much the only thing most people read - clueless as to why the other ones still exist unless Justin has some grand plan he is keeping to himself-and since I now have rhino skin will post whatever I chose there until Justin himself says I cannot. It you don't like the political posts don't read them and I will try and be kind enough not to offer you CHEESE when you whine about them- Linda

Linda, I went back and was reading older threads. You haven't even come close to evening the score. LOL. You have to remember that most bashers last Fall were very arrogant in slamming opposing opinions. I am sure they have not humbled any to date. I am tiring too of all of the yadda yadda as well, but support anybody right to state anything that they desire, as that precedent was set late last year.

I merely hijacked Chick's harmless thread because both myself and yesterday's Salty Dog posts were appearing bland. I really don't have that many malicious bones in my body. My profile clearly list me as an agitator. I only wanted to liven things up. Spirited debate is fun. The terms Liar, Idiot and Fool were abundantly used in the Bush Bashing of before. So a few names here in there are fair play. I really just wanted anyone that had slammed our previous President to man up and say that Obama was not living up to his eloquently made promises.

Linda, tomorrow I move to a new state and a new life. Since it is a Northern Liberal state my views may become swayed. I could actually become a Yankee. Other than that I think that I will enjoy Florida.

Felix of Florida

Felix, I love it when people go left of center. Good move. President Obama has done more in 113 day than Regan/Bush?Cheney did or have done in thirty years. Lets start with a list of promises kept...

Created a foreclosure prevention fund for homeowners
Expanded loan programs for small businesses
Extended and index the 2007 Alternative Minimum Tax patch
Expanded eligibility for State Children's Health Insurance Fund (SCHIP)
Directed military leaders to end war in Iraq
Send two additional brigades to Afghanistan.
Granted Americans unrestricted rights to visit family and send money to Cuba.
Released presidential records.
Required new hires to sign a form affirming their hiring was not due to political affiliation or contributions.
Removed more brush, small trees and vegetation that fuel wildfires
Created a White House Office on Urban Policy
Pushed for enactment of Matthew Shepard Act, which expands hate crime law to include sexual orientation and other factors.
Supported increased funding for the NEA (National Endowment for the Arts)
Worked to overturn Ledbetter vs. Goodyear. Now we women can get equal pay. Most of us women actually are the bread winners in today's society.
Banned lobbyist gifts to executive employees
Invested in all types of alternative energy.
Supported high-speed rail
Provided grants to encourage energy-efficient building codes
Appointed at least one Republican to the cabinet
Extended unemployment insurance benefits and temporarily suspend taxes on these benefits
Reversed restrictions on stem cell research
Got his daughters a puppy

As of today May 12, 2009 will be fulling promises on healthcare which even some right wings will agree to.

Cite me what Reagan/Bushs/Cheney have done beside leave the country in a spiraling economic disaster and taken innocent civilian and our Armed forces lives? I'd say Unlike Bush's banner the mission is accomplished for these.

Oh, BTW: there will be a White House poetry jam — with smooth jazz, cool verses and spoken word. You can see it live 7:45 p.m.EST at... www.whitehouse.gov. President Barack Hussen Obama, a man of the people.

President Barack Rocks; cool man!

WOW! Got his daughters a puppy! Now that's a BIG accomplishment!

Subject: Presidential comparison quiz

If George W. Bush had made a joke at the expense of the Special Olympics, would you have approved? Or laughed at jokes about 9/11, would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had given Tony Blair a set of inexpensive and useless (to Tony Blair's UK video formatting) DVDs, when Tony Blair had given him a thoughtful and historically significant gift, would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had given the Queen of England an iPod containing videos of his speeches, would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had bowed to the King of Saudi Arabia, would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had visited Austria and made reference to the non-existent "Austrian language," would you have brushed it off as a minor slip?

If George W. Bush had filled his cabinet and circle of advisers with people who cannot seem to keep current on their income taxes, would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had ordered the firing of the CEO of a major corporation, even though he had no constitutional authority to do so, would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had proposed to double the national debt, which had taken more than two centuries to accumulate, in one year, would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had then proposed to double the debt again within 10 years, would you have approved?

So, tell me again, what is it about Obama that makes him so brilliant and impressive?

Can't think of anything? Don't worry. He's done all this in 10 weeks -- so you'll have three years and nine-and-a-half months to come up with an answer.

Most of those are things he has talked about but little or nothing shows success and the economy continues to not grow. Banks held off on foreclosures for I believe 3 mos then started again. A large percentage of those homeowners who had gotten their mortgages reworked before he ever proposed anything once again defaulted. Both Chrysler and GM were given bailouts-sorry bridge loans- but Chrysler has gone into bankruptcy and looks like GM will follow. The union owns most of the company if it survives He is in the pocket of the unions as the bond holders were preferred share holders but he painted them as evil hedge funds so they take the major hit. In actuality many of these hedge funds were investors on many folk's 401 ks and retirement plans. The independent budget office has figures that do not agree with any of his as to the amount of debt nor growth in the economy. Many people have applied for refinance to Fannie Mae which holds over half of the mortgages but they haven't received them yet. His projected figures for unemployment for next year are past that mark now. Just in case you haven't been paying attention Fannie Mae has said it will need more billions from the taxpayers on top of the billions they have already received. He is the Master of Double speak and if you let him fool you he will as he is TOTUS- that is just a few of the things you mentioned-too exhausted to talk about more of the myth-Linda

Linda, reading is fundamental and comprehension is even greater.

I suggest you fact check what you fundamentally missed The rats.. oops I meant "GOPers" are scattering all over the place looking to reek havoc. What would you call a compromise? Yes its true. Banks held off on foreclosures but that was NOT our PRESIDENT"S FAULT. http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/promises/promise/434/set-a-three-month-moratorium-on-foreclosures. The banks' freezes on foreclosures were voluntary. State laws set rules for foreclosure proceedings. Sometimes cities and counties can also act to stop foreclosures. Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac announced a foreclosure moratorium starting on Nov. 26, 2008. The moratorium lasted until Jan. 31, 2009, 3 months. The leaders of eight major banks came before Congress to answer questions about how they were using money from the Troubled Assets Relief Program (TARP). During the hearing, Rep. Barney Frank, D-Mass., chairman of the House Financial Services Committee, told them he expected them to stop foreclosures until the Obama administration had time to present its plan for addressing the crisis. The same day, the U.S. Office of Thrift Supervision called on institutions it regulates to voluntarily stop owner-occupied foreclosures as well. These were open-ended because it wasn't clear that they would be helpful or even applicable. A week later, Obama unveiled his $75 billion plan to help some borrowers with subprime or underwater mortgages refinance their loans. Not everyone would receive help under the plan, It excludes investors, speculators, people who fraudulently obtained loans, and people who purchased homes so beyond their means that even refinancing won't help them.

These modifications take time; Rome was built in a day. Obama is not a miracle worker. He can't undo decades of abuse from the Regan and the Bushes in 113 days . Give your PRESIDENT a chance. I don't think had McCain /Palin we'd even be talking of these type of malefactions since Republicans only think of their elite, rich, oil, buddies, and war profiteers. This brings up whose in whom's pockets. I would think since our PRESIDENT is not as rich as Halibution, McCain, or the Bushes, it seemed those are the ones in the pockets of their fat, greedy, friends whom we made comfortable by the sweat of our brows.

Beverly, no partisan laundry lists, please.

A couple of those are significant (stem cell, Cuba), others space fillers.

I think the handling of the Somali pirates was a real feather in his cap.

On the down side, he has broken his promises on openness, lobbyists in his WH, earmarks to name a few big ones. More importantly I don't see any new politics. Since last July he has been quite partisan.

It's really still Bush's watch, but the American people expect him to resurrect the economy a

Linda you can't please all the people all the time.Clearly the polls indicate more Americans are pleased with him. Now if that's partisan I suggest you listen to your self. I'm not thrilled about everything our President has done; yet I"d prefer his agenda more that a McCain/ Palin in the White House as does most of America and the world.

I am tired of refuting meaningless things. The site you used did not note that ACORN is now under investigation in several states for fraudulent voter registration and has confessions by some. Their view on foreclosures is meaningless., A much bigger issue s that Fannie Mae because of pressure by ACORN gave mortgages to people who could never afford them and now that same Fannie Mae needs more taxpayer money to the tune of billions on top of the billions they have already received.

As a side note GMAC the financing arm of GM and taking over the financing of Chrysler if Chrysler survives looks like it will need more government money. Does that forebode the government now being able to set the terms of auto loans? If it does it puts Ford which has until now refused government money between a rock and a hard place. If you want to be charmed by his empty promises that is your right-just suggest you might want to watch BOTH of his hands as he says one thing like he doesn't want to e in the auto business while all the time doing exactly that-like I said-your call-Linda

You are correct, Beverly that most of the American people do support him. I suggest they pay attention like today the hike on taxes on couples was lowered from $250 thousand to $235 thousand with no fanfare. Still seems like a lot of money to people like me but when I have to pay more because of his green energy thing-sorry renamed to clean energy and my dollar has been deflated because of his massive spending, he will get to my purse too . It is the things he does and doesn't say...

I actually have a positive thing to say about thr President. He followed Lincoln's idea that if you are not doing well, you fire the commander. Lincoln went through several Generals before he found Grant. Things have not been going well in Afghanistan in anyone's opinion so it was wise of him to replace the head guy there. The guy in charge now is said to eat only one meal a day so he can keep his edge. He has been in charge of covert operations in both Iraq and Afghanistan-a wise choice by Obama-hopefully I'l, end my posting on this thread for today on a positive note - Linda

How about you Yanks calling a truce. Give Obama a couple of years before passing judgement. George W. Bush had eight years to really **** up the world, and he made a really good job of that. Anyone who invades a country to try to finish the job his Daddy failed to finish has got to be some kind of freaking idiot.
