It made me pause today when some press was given to the guys given doing the intricate work on the telescope. The coverage was kind of a yawn break from the barrage of press given to the Notre Dame thing. About all I can say about that is the prompter had no glitches and he read well as he always does. Remember when the Russians first made the launch into space. My family was glued to our small black and white screen TV when the first walk on the moon occurred. My grandmother gave a haurrmp and said it was not possible. Bet if you asked most people they could not even give you these guys names-including myself. Don't know if that is progress or not but certainly a change in focus. Linda

Mt post was uncleare, Charlottre, I was trying to make the difference in focus of news coverage from then and now I too remember Armstong as it was considered a huge news story then The pointtis I don;t even know one name of thee crew up there now. Amd Itoom also remember Kirk and Spock. My son was obseessed with that seriies and think he still is-my fault for the lack of clarithy in my post Linda

I got you, Linda. The astronauts were celebrities in the sixties. Everyone knows Neil Armstrong, Gus Grissom, John Glenn, just to name a few. We knew who was going into space each time 30 and 40 years ago. It's still an awesome thing but we've taken it in stride or gotten blase, I'm not sure which is more accurate. Our focus has shifted, you're right.
