COUNTRY MUSIC HELP

Hello. My name is Jeremy, and I have a request. I'm looking for the names of some of your favorite country songs! I know virtually nothing about country music, but as a compromise for passengers in car rides am looking for new music that I might enjoy. Don't be embarrassed, if you enjoy country music step right up and give me the names of your favorite country songs! Any help you can give would be much appreciated! I am mostly looking for the titles of particular songs, and links to youtube or other ways of listening to the song would not be necessary as I have ways of listening to whatever you put on this thread. Thanks a bunch! And Yeeeeeehhhhhaawwww! (I'm teasing).

I looked him up, some American Idol guy, but I'm guessing since you don't want it that singer is no good? Or is it because you already burned the CD? Of course if it is good I'll listen to anything once! Any particular song on there that you like? I mean, you must've bought it for a reason......

Sorry, dear, I was joshing. It was a gift from someone who doesn't know me well and in my opinion it's not worth the postage to mail it to you, but if you want it I'll gladly pass it on.

I'm not a country fan but I have some fringe favorites that my country-loving friends can abide (I do the compromising in my car). These include the entire catalogs of John Prine and Eva Cassidy. His voice is an easily acquired taste, he's a poetic genius and a national treasure; great musicality and his band is fantastic. She had an ethereally beautiful voice that owned every song she ever sang. She bettered Judy Garland's Over the Rainbow and Sting's Fields of Gold in my opinion, and check out Wade in the Water and People Get Ready. Even her record company found her impossible to pigeonhole but country fans love her. My highest recommendation to anyone, no matter what kind of music they like.

In old-time country I loved Johnny Horton and Marty Robbins for the great stories their songs tell.

Jeremy ... I'm not big into Country Music either, although since I teach exercise classes, I also try to accomodate the likes and dislikes of my clients. Many of them enjoy both Country AND Western music.

You can find lots of Country Music collections that are generally palatable if you shop at places like WalMart and Target. I wish I could give you more information, but I'm as lost as you are. I think they might be called something like "Best of Country ...2008" for example.

I knew ALL of the country music up until 1980 because Rock & Roll was the music of the devil. So I didn't get to listen to it. After I attained adulthood ... you got it! I switched to Rock & Roll and I've never looked back!

Almost missed this post Katy! I had googled various websites trying to track down said music, but hadn't thought of scanning collections. Thanx for your help!

I'm a big Country Fan, and I would suggest you look at Carrie Underwood, George Strait, Reba Mcintyre, Taylor Swift, Sugarland, Brad Paisley
- that should keep you going
