STANLEY CUP GAME #5

It is 5-0 Wings after 2 periods. The sad part of this is seeing a good team, Pittsburgh, losing its composure and taking stupid, I said stupid penalties that will ultimately cost them 3 goals and put this game pretty much out of reach.

The series is far from over, but it is looking dim for the Penguins.

Last year the Red Wings showed them what they had to do to win.

This year it is looking like they are showing the Penguins how to do it.

If they lose, I hope the Penguins do not self-destruct in the off season.

We fans think that maybe the Pens were suddenly overtaken by some strange mental illness from which they may still recover, or perhaps they were possessed by evil demons who can be exorcised by Tuesday's game. They played like a completely different team! We said, "Who ARE you guys? Bring back the REAL Penguins. Now!"
It was embarassing to see them fall apart and take cheap shots at the Red Wings. That's not the way we want to see them win -- even if it worked, which it certainly did not.

The cheap shot were the only thing entertaining about game #5. Is there any chance Chelios will play? He'd crack if he received a shot of any kind. Go Pens!

Game #7 is this evening.

Pittsburgh has not played a good game in this series in Detroit, but it they did, it could be interesting.

Nevertheless I'm going out on a limb and picking the Wings in 7.

I bear no hard feelings against the people of the great city of Pittsburgh.
Been there and Bill Cullen was from there. However being a life long Dallas Cowboys fans I hate the Steelers.
Loved the Penguins when they had Mario (even took in a game)however Sid the Kid is a hack.
The last time a team in the three major sports where they have a best of seven series won a game 7 on the road was the 1979 Pittsburgh Pirates against Baltimore, still remember Willie Stargell's home run. Last time in hockey the 1971 Montreal Canadians, but they had Ken Dryden in nets.

Detroit will rock all night this night. Their 12th cup!!!!

Spacecat, why do you think Crosby is a "hack"? What does that mean to you? I really do not understand. It sounds a little mean-spirited. Please explain.

Don't know how I missed this the first time.... Sidney Crosby is a hack? Are you kidding me?

Maybe 'hack' means drafted talent instead of purchased talent?

Crosby is a great talent with the potential for a phenomenal career. He is better at this time than Malkin, who is still emotional immature, and should have gotten the Conn Smythe. His work in forcing so much focus on him was more important to the Cup win than Malkin's play, which helped cost them 2 games via emotional blowouts.

Well, I can tell you, the Pittsburgh area is still over the moon with the win! Big parade planned for tomorrow.
As to the hack, I remind you, that Sidney Crosby is the youngest team captain to hoist the Stanley Cup since...... well how about that...... Mario Lemieux!
Our little family got hooked on hockey back in the early 1990's. My oldest son, just loved Mario Lemieux and as he got into it, so did I! Mario Lemieux has been wonderful to the city of Pittsburgh, and not just saving the hockey team, but as an active and charitable citizen.
GO PENS!

Martina,
PA won the World Series and the Stanley Cup within a year of each other. I am pulling for the Eagles to take the SuperBowl!

Excuse me for pointing out the obvious, but this year's Super Bowl Champions ARE in PA -- just not in Philadelphia. Now, if the Pirates could just learn to play baseball, we would be totally SET. Sigh . . . . . . . . .

Did the Steelers win the Super Bowl? hahaha....I must have been bitter to forget that. I say again, would be nice for Philadelphia to win it this year.

This is the first time EVER that any city has had the Lombardi trophy and the Stanley Cup in the same year. Right now they are getting ready to start the celebratory parade in Pittsburgh for the Penguins. The police are estimating that there are a quarter of a million people lining the streets downtown. Fun. Pittsburghers do love a parade.

The crowd estimate later climbed to around 300,000 -- about equal to the total population of the city of Pittsburgh.

6:00 news has the count up to 375,000 -- some people staked out their spots at 3 in the morning for a noon parade.

What a parade! The team was just so happy and it was fun to watch.... even on TV. I heard estimates of 350,000 people and one as high as 500,000.... but that was a news tease.
BTW the populaton of Pittsburgh is 312,000!
