GARRREYBL'S WP

Well, this is a tough theme with tough words and well thought out clues. I can't wait for Barry's list. I think I got a real toughie ... wasted half my shots on one puzzle.

Clever clues and phrases and had me laughing! Great WP.

Lodi - Your post had to be deleted because it gave some clues to the current WP. I have included below your post, edited to eliminate the assistance:

Loved it, ... I quickly caught on to the theme (doesn't always happen).

I really like puzzles like this that aren't so difficult that you have to fill in every letter just to solve it, yet still make you think.

I know many of you weren't here back then, but I still have post traumatic stress disorder from all the Welsh Castles and Welsh Towns WP's.

Really? I don't recall saying anything that would give it away. I tried not to and apologize if I did.

I can't believe I picked up on the theme. Barry's way too smart for me to catch on to him, usually. Good quiz!

Booted from my own puzzle!
I've asked for a reset; when i get it I'll see if i can remember the answers.

I took it early this morning, and got a rather low score, and just now "got" it. Ingenious, Barry. It's not hard to give me a problem with a WP, but this was ingenious.

I remember what I posted now. Had nothing to do with the WP theme but my inability to type. Weird.

I've never met Barry, but he's at the other end of the French Mediterranean coast right now. Just across the border in San Remo on the Italian Riviera, a delightful spot.

Took us a "sorry" (and a while) to "get" it. Good job; clues were a bit off, however, interesting WP.

Got it on the first WP, but only after I had worked my way down to 4,300 points. After that it was really fun and clever.

I did pretty good too, but it challenged me to reflect on his "theme" as I started my set.

At first glance. I thought it was a collaborative effort with another author- but then it dawned on me-

Garr [re] ybl was the hook . I thought his author name looked funny but the extra RE was the key.
Must keep on your toes for sure!

I kept trying to figure out the co-author, too. Good puzzle!

Loved it, thought clues were good though I couldn't get G + S until Smoke explained it to me. Another blonde moment corrected by another blonde (After we'd both done the puzzle). Good job, Barry

You're lucky, Randy. You got lost via the direct route. My first two puzzles were totally obscure to me, so I didn't get the meaning behind the puzzle as a whole until #3, at which point I could reconstruct the first two. My #2 was the G+S clue, and not yet knowing the puzzle's common bond, but inferring from the puzzle title up till I did figure this out that this was a Garrybl-Surreyman collaboration, I naturally guessed that the authors were somehow referring to themselves. Nothing else even crossed my mind.

I'm ally stupid at times.

Truly clever and I was very surprised to actually "get it" on one of Garryl's puzzles. Well done.

Here are the ten clues. As indicated above, the clue was the extra re in the title. I had the choice of putting the 're' in small with GARRY in caps, but I preferred this way; it never occurred to me that it might be read as an unindicted co-conspirator.

Yours goes up to 12? Spinal Tap will be so jealous.

However, I can confirm that these five made the final cut:

I started downhill immediately.

I thought the Garrreybl was a combo author with Oldgrey, Greyghost or some other Sploofuser with an "rey" name.

Then, the first puzzle was the "Nash" clue, which I figured Barry was a fan of Ogden Nash, so it basically went downhill from there. I kept looking for a Nash punny phrase. Didn't happen.

I got the "re" lightbulb around the third puzzle and once again wanted the ev popular do-ov.
