DOES ANYONE REMEMBER.....

Choo Choo Bags? They were all the rage back in 1968-1969 where I lived. All the girls carried them...they were kind of oblong with two straps and one zipper down the middle...and of course no self respecting junior high school girl would be caught with out the white lipstick and a mirror...LOL

I remember them. Didn't carry one though. I was a serious tomboy. It was a short lived fad anyway.

I remember white lipstick (and matching nail polish) but not familiar with "choo choo bags." I tried to google the term, but I get mostly references to Jimmy Choo handbags or tote bags with pictures of locomotives on them.

White lipstick in 1968? Was this some sort of Night of the Living Dead promotion?

I was going to a school then that had a very old Slovak nun for a cook. She barely spoke any English, but she told me once that she was terribly worried about all the girls who were so anemic. They had no color in their lips or fingernails. And they had such dark circles around their eyes. I tried to explain, but she couldn't believe anyone would make herself look that ill on purpose.

See this photo of Twiggy from that era: http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_BWbnhM2Pg0E/SKFEog8TzJI/AAAAAAAABUY/SiynnvISIjw/s400/twiggy2.jpg

It started by pinks getting paler and paler until they went to pure white. Some pictures of Rhianna look like she's moving in that direction: http://www.hotterinhollywood.com/photos/uncategorized/2008/02/08/indecentdiamond.jpg

I wish I could say that I remember 1968, but I was wearing plaid jumpers, knee high white socks and saddle oxfords at the time.

What can I say? I was six years old and not picking out my own clothes! LOL

I remember, when our elementary schools, finally allowed girls to wear pants to school. I got a lovely yellow pantsuit for Christmas and I loved it. It was 1969, I think! Before the pantsuit, I would sneak pants to school and change in the bath room.I remember Mrs. Zelenka, being shocked that I was wearing pants... "I didnt think you would do that" -- but next year, she was wearing slacks too!

I wasn't in Catholic school ... that must have been the universal uniform for all 6-year-old girls.

We were not allowed to wear pants when I was in elementary school at all....I was a Sophmore in high school and then we could only wear then during the winter time! Then my junior year everyone was wearing them! Hot pants were all the rage too..This was 1972...Short skirts, long hair parted down the middle, granny dresses...Lord but those were the good old days....LOL! Hip huggers anyone?
