DOGS AND AUTO RACING

It's 2:44 am; way past my bedtime.

But I had to finish a book. I know folks here like dogs,
and a few like auto racing. And I know at least one
person likes dogs and auto racing. I would give a
strong recommendation to The Art of Racing in the
Rain by Garth Stein.

Many of you have probably already read it since I am
always behind in my reading. But just in case, give it
a look.

When I was at B & N over the weekend, I wanted to get
a copy of The Story of Edgar Sawtelle, but they had returned
all the hardbacks because the paperback is coming out
in August. The clerk said she read an electronic version
and suggested I buy a Kindle. I'm tempted, but I still
like the heft of a good book.

By the way, Amazon has a cute video of Enzo that outlines
the plot of Art of Racing in the Rain.

Foogs, I still buy "real books". Many aren't yet available on kindle. But damn, it's nice to get a book the minute you want it! I'm a total junkie. Have you read "The Discovery of Heaven" by Harry Mulisch? Just started it and am enthralled. He also wrote "The Assault" which was much different. The Dutch, I think, have a unique view of life.

Does anyone remeber a Bud Light commercial where the husband says "Drag Racing!" and the wife says in a whiny voice "But I wanted to watch the dog show?"

The husband says "Let's do both"

The video cuts to a weiner dog in the starting gate and an announcer voice saying "It's the Weiner dog Nationals!"

That's what the subject of this topic reminded me of....
