I hadn't heard of most of these, but they weren't too hard to figure out. Thanks Todd!

Four of my five were new to me but as indicated abouve the phrases and clues gave us an easy way in. Thanks for not making this scary for a non-cell phone user.

Enjoyed the puzzle Todd, and learned a couple of things as well. That's always a good thing! Thanks.

Hi All,

Thanks for the kind comments and here are all the phrases:

asl stands for age sex location ("Tell me about yourself")
typing bot asks the receiver to get back on topic ("Applicable to Salty Dog")
if you want to tell someone you will be right back send them brb ("May I be excused?")
you might receive wtg which stands for way to go ("High five")
a popular ending to many conversations is ttyl for talk to you later ("Toodles")
if you totally agree with someone type gmta for great minds think alike ("We have a connection")
if someone sends you just the word hand it likely means have a nice day ("Are you slapping me?")
not sure when it is appropriate to send the word pimp for pee in my pants ("Where’s the bathroom?")
swdywtta translates to so what do you want to talk about ("I’ve got nothing …")
dbeyr is shorthand for dont believe everything you read ("Don’t be naïve!")

Nice one but now I can't use that one!

For those who don't know, PEBCAK stands for "Problem Exists Between Chair And Keyboard" or "Permanent Error Between Keyboard And Chair".
