Today, I had one of those dreaded brain/finger failures in a Word Puzzles that drive you crazy--accidently hitting the "enter" key before I was finished. Costs 3 moves and I had barely typed in a couple of letters in the puzzle. I've noticed other folks have experienced this mistake, plus the "two-spaces-between-words" mistake, plus the "not-correctly-counting-the-number-of-letters-in-a-word" mistake, and so on and so on.

Basically, we all suffer from the same crazy finger/lazy brain/terrible typist problems that really have nothing to do with solving the puzzle.

Wouldn't it be great if Justin could install a little warning gizmo (with no penalty) into the WP that would tell you if your guess didn't have the same spacing as the answer? Say you had the right answer, but you inadvertenly put two spaces between a couple of words. After you transmit, you would get a no-penalty message that says, "The spacing on your guess doesn't match the spacing in this puzzle. Try again." You'd fix that silly error, submit again, and it wouldn't cost you any extra moves.

Obviously, this warning would NOT pertain to mistaken letters, whether a wrong guess or bad spelling. Either of those would still cost 3 moves. My thought is that 99.9% of SPACING mistakes are just stupid typing and really have nothing to do with puzzle solving.

What do you all think?

(By the way, I know I've often whined in the Salty Dog about how rarely improvements are added to Sploofus. Well, I don't really expect this change to be considered by Justin. But it's nice to dream.)

I agree wholeheartedly with Sploofus putting some time in to help WPers avoid spacing, punctuation, double-letter strike, unintended submit and the like.

What she said. We've been begging for some fixins for a long time.

Yea, yeah, Lodi, but you only pay half price.
