I have to comment on the passing of Michael Jackson yesterday. I was stunned and I think it's only sinking in now. Regardless of this man's troubled life and the sometimes bizarre events that surrounded him it is a terrible loss to the music world.
I am quite prepared for the media circus that his passing will generate however if we can wade through all of that I think we will be able to see all that he meant to his millions of fans around the globe.
I think that he was a genius. I think that he remained a child throughout his life. I believe that he was abused, exploited and finally abandoned by many. His own country didn't want him and he found acceptance in other countries which is sad in itself.
I wish that he could see now the love that he generated amongst his millions of fans.
I remember taking my 11 year old son to see his Victory Tour in 1984 in Toronto. We had a blast! It was something my son will never forget. I loved his music just as much as my sons did. So many great songs...Billie Jean, Never Can Say Goodbye and She's out of my Life are just a few of my favs....
I have also read varies posts on many sites that attempt to defame him. Comments that vilify and attempt to crucify him.
I suppose we will always have people like that. People so ready to consider only someone's flaws, faults and mistakes without considering all that they have given the world. So I just try to ignore those comments.
My hope is that Michael Jackson can find the peace in death that he never knew in life.
