For all my friends (and foes) out there just wanted to let you know I'm still here but will not be doing WPs and WRs this month (well maybe one here and there just to stay in practice). July 1 is when the new interns and residents start and my work schedule will be very hectic the next few weeks. I will have very limited Sploof time at home and virtually none at work (we technically have a "no games" policy at work anyway). Will try and use what time I do have here to stockpile a couple of my own WPs and maybe I can get caught up on quizzes of my favorite authors (Swiper, Haydn, Carreau, Mitchy to name a few). And of course will try to have a drink or two with y when the Tiki Bar is open. Happy Summer all
P.S. I would really recommend you not get sick over the next few weeks - you might end up seeing a very green intern who doesn't know what the heck they're doing - I know - I was one a few (OK 29) years ago.
P.S.S. We watch over them like a hawk so it's actually not risky at all

Enjoy your Sploofbbatical, Gary. I'm amazed that you have time to do all the WPs, but then again they don't take you very long and you aced the field by a mile again in June.

I'll not be here much myself.

All records this month will have an asterisk.

Gary, do try to play a few WPs when you can. They don't take long, at least if you just whip through them and don't try to squeeze out every move, because we know how much you've enjoyed some of the recent puzzles. Hate to see you miss out on a good one.

Or maybe I'll write one on toilet paper while you're away.

Ditto with the above. Hope July isn't too draining...and thanks for the tip on NOT getting sick next month.
Maybe you can play the WP like a speed round. We'll see you back here reporting for regular Sploofduty in August!

P.S. Hey, I watch "Grey's Anatomy." I know what goes on with those wacky interns.
P.S.S. Very clever, Barry.

There's more truth to that show than you might believe.
Good advice Ken - will try to speed through some of them, (of course you can solve WPs faster than I can type answers into my own puzzles!)

I guess that's why, when I go take a quiz, I see Slicko up at the top already.

Enjoy your time away.

But Gary - You are one of my yardsticks. How can I figure out whether or not I did well on a Word Puzzle? "Beat Slicko" is a rare cry of triumph as I get up from the computer.

I totally agree with Bigbird. SLicko is my yardstick. When Jim and I finish a WP we always stick our chests out if we do better than you, Gary (which happens VERY seldom.

Leave those pesky interns to the nurses 30 minutes a day (it will be good for their mortal souls).

Good luck, Gary, with your new work schedule, and we will miss you not being on as often. Hope it's not too hectic!

Good luck with your busy work schedule, Gary, and sorry to hear there will be a little less Sploofusing in your near future. I agree with all who mentioned the WP yardstick, and note the additional loss of having no one to torture via peronal message with the particularly tough puzzles I get!

While all are correct about the "opportunity" to move up the July WP leaderboard before Gary comes back to kick our butts in August, keep in mind that this probably only benefits Anne (Virtus)! Now if Anne also decides to take a sabbatical, a few of us might have a shot! And now that I think of it, perhaps Digs, Oldcougar, Smoke, Collioure, Lamizell, Garrybl, etc can all take sabbaticals this month!

There's nothing to take the chutzpah out of a brand new resident than a nurse with 20 years experience. Hope they make friends with the nurses right away. They don't want them for enemies. They can make your life miserable.

Hello Slicko,

Someone must have been using your computer yesterday because I am sure I saw your name at the top of the WR/WM...

Had lots of plans yesterday but they fell through with thunderstorms most of the day so did play a couple WRs and did the WPs - gotta stay in practice!

Even blindfolded you would do them under 15 sec.
