SHOWDOWN TOKENS

Seven days ago I started using my stash of Showdown Tokens. I intend to use one each and every day until the remaining 65 are gone. I thought it only fair to warn many of you that your ranking will increase shortly. Since the points mean nothing it should be fun. I'm 1 win, 2 loses, 3 stalemates and one pending to date. Good luck to my opponents, although it does not appear that you'll need it.

Way to be brave! My attitude has changed since I rejoined. When I was here for so long and had climbed my way into the top 20's or so, I was counting every single point and showdowns used to send me into the vapors. Now I don't have hardly any points and I don't care if I lose them so I use up my showdowns.

I still get mad, however, when I do a showdown and I watch the timer run out long after I've clicked an answer.

That phenomenon is good for a replay. Support ticket it of you lose and would have won/drawn.

Yeah, I lost some 3 mil. last week, but then I regained it. I enjoy the showdowns, myself.

Update: 5 wins, 5 losses, 5 stalemates and 3 pending. I may have become a Democrat. I feel like I've lost no ground although only spinning my wheels to date nut I'm helping stimulate the points economy. And the clincher is I have a net loss of 35 million points. Yep! I may be a Democrat, now.

I have 174 Showdown tokens that I am willing to trade for even a chance at a Blue Diamond Round. Or a Gold Nugget. I'm not particular.

A suggestion. How about if we could trade them in for wager tokens? If I could trade 10 showdowns for one wager, I'd almost double my wager total.

Whenever I change my rank on the leaderboard, I seem to always wind up directly under someone with a 67% success rate or higher. After I use my showdown, now they're at 68%, and I move to a new speed-demon trivia master. At least with a wager, it's just me versus the question and clock. The clock is bad enough with my slow ISP, but I either know it in 30 seconds or not. Although I did have to read one long question three times to understand what it was asking.

Showdowns are way more nerve-wracking than wagers. Think you should get more points!

Good for you, Felix - no guts, no glory! I am 53 ws, 23 ls, and 24 sms. I have two pending and I can't wait to place my next showdown. I think it adds some excitement - Lord knows I could use some of that! Good luck, Felix!

Thanks Karen. I just counted mine. 60 42 and 45. Why is it again that stalemates count the same as a loss?

I have 252 showdown tokens...I'll gladly give them to anyone who wants them...I never use them anyway..probably to big a chicken although I was challenged earlier and I won...I now have over 114 million points...

If you want to be really smart with your Showdown tickets, only use them against someone who has not logged in for weeks. That way, right or wrong, you win the Showdown when your opponent fails to respond. Simples.

Sandy - I agree, because with a TQOTD wager you have nothing to lose and everything to gain, but a showdown loss does cost - a LOT. So I agree it makes sense that a successful showdown gamble should pay more.

As Barnie said, challenging someone who is not around much anymore is a great way to move up, but those are few and far between the higher you go. Still, pretty fun. I have one pending right now.....

I have 69 and I would like to use one right now but my ISP or this sight is so slow It would be pointless.
Sandy - if you get more points for a showdown doesn't that mean you lose more if you lose?
Barnie - you don't think I haven't thought of that already, it just seems like such an unfair way to win

I use mine right away. I just counted, I am 77-43. I refuse to go count the stalemates. Would it kill Sploofus to provide a count?

It is soo much easier when you aren't up the ladder. I am 118 now. I have just stopped progressing toward my goal of Top 100.

I am 6-9 for the last stretch (which means I was 71-32 before that). Early on I had a 12-1 streak.

I thought you could only challenge the person ahead of you on the leader boards in a showdown...Did this change?

Then how can you challenge some one who isn't around much if they are not ahead of you on the leader boards? This doesn't make sense to me...

Our home pages now list the last time we logged in.

Challenging someone who hasn't logged in for some time is a
pretty safe wager (are you reading this, Smaugie?).

Oh dear, Vicrowe, and there was me thinking you had some common sense. Of course I am talking about the person who is one ahead, otherwise you could not challenge them. By the way, I always use my Showdown Tickets regardless. I have only one in stock at the moment.

Barney I do have common sense and lots of it...I was confused by the wording about the challenges. The person ahead of me is always on so I can't challenge them as others here seem to be doing...Hope this is as clear as mud to you...and Felix honey, sorry about the eye twitch. (and for anyone else, I am NOT a blond) LOL!!! Now I'll get blasted by everyone here who is a blond...those who know me know that I'm teasing anyway...
Love ya all,
Vickie

Vicrowe -- I think the answer to what you are asking is that if you wait, the person one ahead of you in the rankings changes.

With seven tokens (out of 68) left I feel this is going to be my peak. I'm now in the neighborhood of some awesome players. When this thread start I had just over 330,000,000 points. It has been fun (up until now)!
