I don't understand why things have to be one extreme or another on here. Is there no common sense left anywhere? Can't we learn to use moderation and discretion in all areas of sploofus, whether that be our posts or the removal thereof?

This thread put the following joke into my mind.

The husband returns ashen faced and his wife asks whats wrong.
I owe 30 dollars and if I dont pay tomorrow I lose my business. i have nothing , we are doomed,

The wife sighs and says to her husband ' you remember I used to be pretty once; maybe I'll go out on the streets and raise the money!'
So she leaves and the husband cant sleep all night,
Eventually she returns and the husband asks 'Did you get the money? She hands over the stash.
How much is there?

$30.75

Who gave you 75 cents?

Everybody!

There was no other purpose to Barry's joke then to insult me. It had NOTHING to do with this thread. He did it all the time on the political threads bringing it down to a personal insult on me. Perhaps he is the one currently answring or no answering support tickets -would not surprise me nor does this surprise me GOOD GRIEF is right

Counted to 10. It is not about the "Joke'"juvenile as it is nor my lack of a sense of humor, Andy. I most certainly have heard and said much worse and bite my tongue now. It is about the vndictive persoal animosity that is not going to disappear with the political threads. I'm patient and will wait for an opportiunity if it is the back door game we play here

Funny stuff - time to relax just a bit. That post I made was more of a notification than a debatable topic. I have yet to program the alert system that Lodi thought up, which would have been more appropriate - or perhaps I should have posted it in Hotwire. Anyway - it's really NOT a big deal in the grand scope of life, right? Right. So until I get the global alert system put in place (kudos again to Lodi) please excuse my reasoning for wanting that thread to be a "notification", not a "discussion".

You know I love y'all.

sploofus

I once had a "pigeon stew". It was wonderful. Lately I've been compiling a recipe book comprised of all the grand meals that Masters, Commanders, Captains and Post-Captains would eat in the English Royal Navy aboard their ships back in the 18th century. It's an amazing list of meals... I think many would be surprised.

Justin, the only surprising thing about English food is how dreadful and unimaginative it is. The smart ones cross the Channel from time to time to get a good meal on the mainland of Europe.

sploofus
Justin
Thu, 2nd Jul '09 6:24 PM

(although I will add that there is a little bit TOO MUCH of a love story in the books IMHO)

....mostly between Captain Aubrey and a landlubbing woman named Sophia, but in HMS Surprise there is a "moment" between the Captain and Dr. Maturin's pet sloth. The sloth got into the grog. No kidding.

OK Lodi doesn;t get Barry's "joke" and Andy thinks he should post it again to jog my sense of humor I have submitted 3 support tickets and a BUG report hoping that someone could explain what purpose Barry's joke served in the thread other than an insult to me. The language is not what is offensive nor the content of the "JOKE" but the insult and the editor response that no one thought it was an insult to me is offensive The editors told me that Justin was personally handling deletions and they knew he had participated in that thread both he and they say we should lighten up and laugh. Someone who does understand Barry's "joke" -preferably Barry- please explain exactly how it related to this thread. It is no "Big Deal" if you are not one the receiving end of Barry's barbs but the statement in reply to Felix that all would be fair does NOT ring true. Meanwhile while this thread keeps getting bumped the editors confer on my suppiort ticket BS .

Have to hand it to you, LInda, at least you admit what it is...although I thought we weren't supposed to use those kind of initials anymore. Nobody else sees anything as a personal slur but you, as far as I can see. Go Justin! Let's lighten up, for Pete's sake! Surely we're all articulate enough to converse in a civil manner without the use of words (or initials for them) that are definitely not Family Friendly.

The other day I got the mail and when I opened the phone bill I saw that they had charged me because I opened a text message that was sent to the wrong number. Since I'm older than dirt, I don't have a text plan, so they charged me 20 cents. I snatched up the phone to demand that they remove the charge from my bill.

While waiting to get through all the voice mail messages, I opened the next letter and saw that my tax-deferred annuity investments had lost $9000 this quarter.

I hung up the phone.

Linda I'm sorry you identified yourself with a prostitute; that was not my intention. I do not think of you as such. I dont know anyone who does.
I apologize if you (or anyone else) thought that. I cant see anything that would make you think I thought you were a prostitute,

The joke, if there was one, was that a lot of people were giving very small amounts of money for a common end.

This was only peripherally relevant to what had gone before it in this thread...but maybe you can see the link.

The smart ones cross the channel, quickly avoid the over-rated and overpriced French food and wine, and head for the rest of Europe.

As for 'dreadful and unimaginative', the whole world is flooded with McDonalds, Burger King etc. Fast 'food' at its worst!
