FIDDLING WHILE ROME BURNS

While editors are wasting their time ruining this chat room, and doing an excellent impression of the Stasi, this place continues to sink into the mire. Yet another quiz question of the day timed out, when i'd answered in about two seconds, and this after i'd sent in yet another error report to be ignored. We have an expression in England....."Couldn't organise a piss up in a brewery".

I hardly think Justin deserves the moniker "stasi". Think he's trying to keep the SD from disintegrating, and it's going to take some time for things to even out.
It's been uncomfortable for a while, not just recently. There are some hilarious threads now, not just the same old politics, which folks look at like they're ogling a train wreck.
Would like explanations for deletions though.

Cloggs, it's not the editors fault if your question times out, but they will try to help you if you send a support ticket instead of the error report.

Yes. Cloggs, use the support ticket route. They will usually give you another question . Also believe they can check that you answered correctly or incorrectly and it was te fault of the timme-not sure on that one. Believe the dilemna Justin faces is exactly what he wants the forums to be or not be and make that clear., Thee innane banter berween individuals when we all knew each other made sense when we were small. Now much of that banter seems to some like the hated hread "highjack" which applies if the meaning or intent behind the comment is known only to a select few. It the comment is funny or meaningful and can stand alone then it is a good comment-highjack or not.Unless the comment can stand alone and can be funny or meaningful without inside information on relationships that exist here most likely leaves many people scratching their heads the way they do when they are asked to pull together or pray for someone they don't know. Most people take politics seriously so those thread tend to get contentious. Believe contentios is preferable to many if you check the number of views to one about your aunt dying. The best threads are funny from the "get go" as the topic is funny or are about something which has broad interest like the health care one . MO

It is impossible to return the site to what it used to be when it was small. Also the banter is now limited much more by the more stringent enforcement about specific words, abbreviations, or substitute words that can no longe be used. Before we were big and the election causd a great divide in the site people could outright insut each other and it was all considered fun as that was the spirit of the site-we knew each other. The topic itself has to be funny or not limited in appeal and censor the people not the topic again MO.

If you feel this way, Cloggs, why don't you get the hell out. You seem to have an obsession with anything you think is unfair to you, ie the people with something to hide, when you would get on much better if you gave the fair minded people a chance.

I don't want Cloggs to leave although pretty sure my post would be deleted if I used the word that you did. And since we are talking about people complaing, Barnie, you might want to check the mirror- Linda

And... don't want you to quit either, Barnie. Whenever I sse your name appear in a thread where I have recently posted- I get prepared for the predictable insult - far more pleasant to me than better than the unpredictable knife in the back.

Cloggs. If you want your support ticket to be actioned you must upgrade to Platinum. The gold account only gets you a support ticket read.

Wasn't it you threatening to leave the other day? You might be a quitter sunshine, but i ain't. I paid my money, and i've contributed close to 400 quizzes in seven months, i WILL have my say.

So sending them to me is as about as much use as giving a fish a bike then ?

Sorry for your timer problem, Clevercloggs. Smoke is right, editors do not cause and cannot fix timer problems, that is something programmers have to address. It is an issue that is high on Justin's list, so the error reports may be helpful to him, and it can't hurt anything to fill them out and turn them in, but if you need help with a timed-out question, Support Tickets are the way to go.

Your membership status has very little to do with the speed of response, we are rarely so backed up that we can't respond as tickets come in; more complicated problems may take longer to address.

I've looked at your question log and there are no responses in the past week exceeding the time limit. All correct responses have been credited as near as I can tell from the log. If you have further questions, please submit as much detail as you have via the Help link at bottom or top of the page.

Thanks.

Exsqueeze me? Please see this line taken directly from the upgrade page for as one of the benefits for platinum members:

Priority support!

I would like to point out that the word "priority" is both underlined and in bold. Are you saying this isn't the case?

If there are three tickets of different levels, yes, we answer the platinum first, the gold and then the free. My point is that there are rarely three tickets sitting unanswered. There are none open at this moment.

Then i suggest you look at today's again. It either timed out or i'm a liar, which is it ? The question was about the moons of a planet, a question that has been in one of my own quizzes.

The log shows a correct answer in 22 seconds. This does not mean that the timer didn't expire on the visible page, but the program did register your response within the time limit.

Funny isn't it. When I get timed out, I either see my answered credited. at the top. or I put in a support ticket, which has always been answered. I know it is annoying being timed out, but lets not cry over it, the Support Issue is quickly addressed, if you ask nicely, and even when you do not, Cloggs. I am GOLD by the way.
