Desperate times call for desperate measures. This would only happen in Ireland. A local treecutter was removing a rotten tree from the church grounds of St.Marys In Rathkeale County Limerick, when someone noticed that the stump of the tree had an
uncanny resemblance to Our Blessed Lady Mary. Already over 5000 people have visited the site and thats only from Monday, while 2000 have signed a petition to stop the local Parish Priest from removing the tree stump. The story has even reached the pages of of of Ireland's most prestigious daily newspapers the Irish Times. Here a link to their take on the story with a picture of the tree stump.

You gotta say it does look like her but come on its only a piece of timber at the end of the day. But people would believe in anything which would give them some hope in these hard times. Has anyone on sploofus island ever come across something like this or is it only confined to my little corner of the world?

In case the link for the Irish Times doesn't work overseas here's a link for a local blogger called Bock the Robber.
Warning his language is a wee bit on the colourful side

He also has a few more pictures of apparitions. As Rolf Harris used to say " can you guess what it is yet".

Any Aberdonians present?

'Tombstone --probably apocryphal:

Here lie the bones of Elizabeth Charlotte
Born a virgin died a harlot
She was aye a virgin at 17
A very rare thing in Aberdeen'

There is a small town near me called Swanscombe, it is said there that a virgin is a girl who can run faster than her brother.
