I wanted to call this post Sploofus or the origin of my very own scientific experiment with myself as patient or guinea pig.
I have tried to monitor my brain "energy" or speed without using anything very complexed except the game and the clock provided by sploofus. Analysis of my results show a big difference between me playing in the morning and me playing in the eve.
I have noticed that my brain activty and speed are very slow in the morning even few hours after being awaked, a shower does not really improve things as a remedy. My experiment was done over a couple of months to be sure that there is a reproductive pattern.
I play in the morning and my time at WR/WM are slower and I am more hesitant about the right answer. TQOTD is even worse, I rarely get my answer right during the weekend taking my TQOTD in the morning. The questions are not more difficult. I usually hesitate and go for the wrong answer. I am considering submitting my discovery to a very serious scientific journal and I could be the first Sploofus nobel prize.

Are you a morning person?
PS: no coffee please

I'm totally a morning person. I am generally awake and alert by 4:30, even though I have absolutely no reason to be up then. I usually wait till around 7AM to do the TQOTD, just to make sure. I always do my best writing, thinking, etc, in the morning. If I have to create a new lab activity or ad poster or whatever, I know I can handle it in the morning. And that is generally coming off, maybe, 4-5 hours of sleep. I once slept for 7 hours; that was so great!

Of course, I totally punk out around 8:30-9PM, and go downstairs to the living room and end up taking a TV nap in my comfy chair. Then, I am up around 10:30PM and wide awake again.

Ambien helps.

As long as you don't have to operate on people early in the morning, I don't think it matters.

I'm not really a morning person either, but employers don't seem to have an open-minded attitude of letting me come in when I think I'm fully functioning...that's why I usually swing by Starbucks on the way in.

So very much not a morning person.

Then again, my speed and accuracy are nothing to brag about in the afternoon or evening, either.

I consider myself a morning person. I'm the only person
in my department who will do 8 am classes.

If you want a challenge, try getting 25-30 college students
to pay attention to anything at 8 o'clock.

I am an all day person, I have the very strange ability to be almost instantly awake, I have to force myself to return to sleep, and it is usually unsuccessful. I never really was aware of this until I vacationed once with my brother and his family, my brother found it freakish, how I could go from sleep to full functioning in seconds.... I think it comes from being an single mom, and ER nurse -- both required being able to go from 0 to 60, rapidly. I get up early, and go to bed late. I, unfortunately, also sleep poorly.

I get my highest WR & WM ranks in the morning. About 3-4 AM to be exact. But when I do that, I go to bed and sleep in. (That's when all you speed demons are sound asleep. At least the US group.

Definitely not, I am a night owl. I worked the night shift for 20+ years. I finf the night to be very peaceful. I not sure about productivity, However, I have more energy, I think, from dusk to dawn.

I am definitely NOT a morning person although my job has frequently required me to be at work by 5:00 or 6:00 a.m. If only my bosses knew ...

I recently told my new boss that if she wants the best work out of me, don't schedule me for anything before 9:00 a.m. I must be getting older. Somehow I didn't care if she minded that or not. Bwahahahahahahaaaaaa!

I am definitely sharper in the morning especially after my first cup of tea. I always try to do my wagers 7 showdowns in the morning. My computer is definitely sharper in the morning too!

I am definitely NOT a morning person. The fact that I bartended for 17+ years may have something to do with it. My best times are in the wee hours of the morning and in the evening. I don't even try in the morning because I am sleeping.

I love mornings. I get up at the buttcrack of dawn and if I don't, I feel like I've wasted the day. However, my body doesn't particularly like it. I've been getting up at 5:00 and going to the gym before work and I have to say its much easier in the afternoons or evenings. My body just doesn't want to respond to treadmills and elliptical machines early in the morning. But when I work out later in the day, it feels great. Unfortunately, it just doesn't fit in the schedule.

I usually get up and take the dogs for a walk at 6.30 in the morning. It is much too hot to be out much later here during the summer months. When I get home, between 7.30 and 8 AM. I then switch on the computer and answer my TQOTD.

I am as sharp as a half-deflated beach-ball when I first wake up.

However, there is some gradual improvement: within an hour, I have the concentration-power and intellect of a retarded cockroach.

What Bushyfox said!! I do wake up around 7 or 8 a.m. because my cats like breakfast, but my best thinking is done in the early hours (it's 12:45 a.m. now and I probably won't get to bed for an hour or two.) I DO often need to take a nap during the afternoon, tho, because I do better on 7 to 8 hours of sleep and I sure don't get that at night. More power to all you morning people!

I am definitely a morning person - way back (too many) years ago we delivered the local morning newspaper. I am the oldest of four boys so it was my job to bring the papers in, sort them into piles for the 4 of us, wake up my brothers and head out. This meant always getting up at 5:15 AM. My brain has been programmed to that time throughout my life - so even when I am on vacation I am wide awake at 5:15 AM. I start my day by turning on the computer, logging onto Sploofus and playing a few games - usually do my TQOD after a Kerblunk or two to make sure I'm awake. Wagered a billion at 5:15 this morning and got it - but it was Music so was a pretty easy question.

I take issue with the line 'It was music so pretty easy'.
For people of my age 50% of the questions deal with songs or groups I do not know or know only by repute -- or songs I've never heard or even heard of. I'd make it my barred question --butr then I'd have to do science.

I guess I will have to agree with you Barry. When I first started on Sploofus I figured Music would be right up my alley, but missed a bunch of quesitons mainly related to Rap or odd alternative music groups I never heard of. Fortunately having teenagers at supper I would ask them the question I had earlier in the day and they would always know the answer so I figured I couldn't call myself a music afficianado unless I learned more about this stuff - started listening to Radiohead, Nirvana, and Pearl Jam and found out they're actually pretty good - still can't get into Rap but I did get a rap question recently which I was able to answer thanks to reading about some of these groups.
But gimme Mahler, Miles Davis or Pink Floyd any day and I will be totally and completely content.
