I am all for having the quizzes reviewed by an editor...and the couple I have had rejected were easy to fix (although I don't see WHY a quiz TITLE needs to capitalized if I was trying to emphasize a later word!).

But it's starting to irk me when I take new quizzes and they have something obviously wrong...I just took a quiz that had the correct answer capitalized for every question, and hardly any other answer choice capped. I quit reading the questions and just picked the capitalized answer! Took out all the fun

This would not have gotten by the people who edit MY quizzes...why are others getting away with it??

Is anyone else noticing this inconsistency?

Hello Suzer
I agree with you, this should never have gone through.
Just a thought though, I wonder was it one of the new quizzes or was it one from further back before the 'editors'?
To my knowledge there are still loads out there that have not been through the system.

I would suggest that when you come across these quizzes, maybe you should report them to Sploofus. It is my understanding that these quizes are not allowed so if it's a new one I would agree that it shouldn't have been allowed.

We do have to understand though taht the editors are only human and mistakes can happen! At least I think they'll be human lol

PS editors, if you're reading this - I am only joking!!

FAO Editors - Sorry!

I meant 'that' rather than 'taht' - please don't reject my post!

I did report it but I felt a little petty about doing that! It was definitely a NEW quiz though...and I LIKE the new, better spelled, grammatically correct quizzes, so it doesn't bother me to fix mine...just irks me when others get away with it!

I had one rejected because I had not identified (in title or description) the geographical bias of my quiz. It is about the TV show "Walker, Texas Ranger". It has the word TEXAS in both the title and the description, for heaven's sake!!! But I dutifully went back and added a longer description, including the years it ran and the network it was on.

Then I turned around and took a quiz on the TV show "MacGuyver" that had no more identification than mine had had!! No offense meant at all to the author of the MacGuyver quiz...but why was my editor being so unbelievable ANAL!!!

[now I'll never get any more quizzes approved after that comment! - LOL]

I know it will take time to get all the kinks worked out, which is why I hope editors and administrators keep checking these chat boards to see what's going on

I still love sploofusing!!

I have noticed a few brand new quizzes with blatant misspellings and no caps in the question also. I wondered how these got through the new editors when I have read on this board about a quiz being rejected for a to/too typo...

I think that some editors are less strict than others. It's puzzling.

Suzer, I know where you are coming from! I don't mind changing mistakes I have made on my quizzes that I have written. IN fact, I had a quiz rejected because I had no periods after some of the descriptions I gave on one of my quizzes. I went back and added the periods and resubmitted the quiz. Then I go and take a quiz that has little or no punctuation in either the question or the answer! It isn't fair! I am beginning to think that some of these editors are letting this go to their heads and it's getting down right nit picky! I can understand the need for correct spelling and punctuation but it should be for everyone not just a certain few.
I still like sploofus but the fun has gone out of the site. I will now get off my soapbox!

Vickie, I really don't think it's meant to pick on anyone. I would guess that some editors are just more strict than others (just like in school, when some teachers were more strict than others).

There should be some way of keeping things more even, however. But that might mean a quiz would have to go through *two* editors, making the approval process take longer.

I do like the newer quizzes and think the system is working great so far, but as with anything new there are some kinks to work out.

Please don't let it affect your enjoyment of this site. It's still lots of fun!

I think that overall, the editors have done a great job. As for as the quality control, I have found a few quizzes were the information given in the clue is incorrect. Those are the type of errors I thought the editors were supposed to catch. But then again, there are lots of quizzes out there, and I'm sure not every mistake will be caught.
I still love and enjoy this site and am very thankful for all the hard work that goes on behind the scenes!

Violet I know where you are coming from but this isn't school! It's suppose to be a fun place to come and forget your daily problems.
Like I stated in my previous post I do understand the need for corrections and the like. But why let some quizzes go thru and not others? Espically when those quizzes do not meet the requirements set down by Sploofus. I'll hush for now and shut up for awhile before I make everyone mad at me on here...

Im happy about the job the editors are doing overall, and appreciate the chance to get my mistakes fixed before they go out,
How did a quiz get through with a 10th question that is something like "Is this stupid" and the correct answer is (supposedly) "Just give me the points". Essentially no 10th question. Bugged me a bit.

I was surprised, too, to take a quiz that not only had many grammatical errors, but had at least three questions with the WRONG answers. I looked them up. I reported it, but it is still on the site, but because I can obviously not take it again, I can only hope that Sploofus made them correct it.

I also felt petty reporting it. I hate doing it, but there was no possible way for anyone to get a 100 on it, unless of course they answered incorrectly.

This is only a rumor...but I heard all of the editors are retired parochial school teachers who wear black habits and carry large rulers, ex-marine drill instructors, former IRS auditors, and southern prison guards...of course this is only a rumor and I could be wrong.

One thing I did learn from training at work is that the best inspectors usually can catch only 80 percent of the defects that pass them, and during the learning curve, that percentage is lower as the learn the ropes. So the real measure is not how they are doing now, but how they are doing this time next month.

I agree that it will take time to get the bugs worked out...which is why I appreciate this forum for airing our gripes!

As we discuss it here I am sure the editors will get wind of the issues that are coming up.

As an ex-marine, Catholic nun school teacher (not really, just a high school teacher in an inner city school) I know that not everyone grades in the same way. But I don't think that means we should let it slide!

Any chance the powers-that-be are considering allowing quiz-takers to add details when reporting a problem quiz? This could be a helpful to the editors who have to look at it later.

I agree with Suzer22's point made right before this post.

Gold Members essentially have the option of either reporting a quiz to Sploofus or sending a helpful message to the author. (I was frustrated about this before I was a Gold Member. I knew, specifically what the content or other error was, but I couldn't tell anyone. It was the main reason I upgraded to Gold.) I would say that about one out of two author's message back, thanking me. Of course, if they're not a Gold Member, they can't.

I know I appreciate the feedback.

I just had to correct a quiz, cause the website where I got my info from was wrong. I had this pointed out to me, for which I'm thankful, cause then I can correct it so my ratings aren't bad because of wrong answers.

i've had a quiz where the people taking it rated it really low, yet no one bother to tell my why they rated it so low. Can't do anything about it (if it's wrong answers) if I don't know. Or I can't improve my writing of quizzes, if I don't know what I'm doing wrong.

Thanks to all who do put up with my quizzes and take them AND let me know if you enjoy them or don't enjoy them and why.

I think that was me Dwyla.

To be honest, I never thought the editors were checking for factual content. Just copying, spelling, and grammar.
I would love to be able to report a quiz AND say why I am reporting.
