Well, as one who was under WWII when young, maybe I'd better join up at last!

So surprised there are is only one response to this forum -- WWII is so important in understanding our history. It is more than epithets thrown at Hitler and the Japanese (and the French, LOL). The onset of the war in two theatres, as well as its ending in two theatres are significant even today. It is important in understanding the Vietnam war. It is important in understanding today's economic and foreign policy dynamics.

It is a complex subject, but well worth studying and discussing.

WWII is a very interesting case of human psychology. It shows how many persons reacted in different situations. Different people can learn different things from it.

In my opinion -- The War of 64 years ago needs to be remembered - what the youth of that day did to keep parts of the world free -- and how -- in my own thoughts -- how a large population - of the USA , and a large percentage of the world - does NOT understand the freedoms -- how some have never even been outside the boundaries of this Country !! how the youth of the 1940 s stopped the evils --
