YET ANOTHER PROMISE BROKEN

http://www.latimes.com/news/nationworld/washingtondc/la-na-healthcare-talks22-2009jul22,0,1752248.story He keeps saying that this is not about HIM. Think everyone knows it is ALL about him. The Independent Budget Office-appointed by his party- has stated that the current health care things will increase not decrease costs. Yesterday he was trying to get the bloggers to work as he did in the campaing. Something they picked up on was the fact that he himself was not familiar with a provision in the bill that would belie his words saying if you like your current plan, you can keep it. He cannot defend any of the things out there so he has fallen back on the thing of attack those who disagree by saying they support the big health care guys.- why does he refuse to name one person that thinks the status quo is just fine. People just want something this big to not get rammed down their throats like the pork-filled stimulus The Mayo Clinic which he has touted as having such good medical care just said the plans out there SUCK.. It is okay now though as he has RENAMED it from health care reorm to insurance reform. sounds much better to those who hate the "fat cats" Won't end with an emotion character as think it is clear that I am with the Mayo Clinic on this one-Linda

Everything Linda said is true. Don't attack the messenger. Attack the one who keeps breaking those promises.

I'm not registering an opinion, and I'm not fully familiar with this site, but here for your consideration is an Obamameter. The St. Petersburg Times has been tracking Obama's promises, and has been recording which have been kept, which have been broken, and which are being worked on.

http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/promises/

I hope you do recognize that he has only been President for 6 months.

I personally emailed the St. Petersburg Times because they had not listed in "broken promises" the president's promise to not have lobbyists working in the White House, since obviously he does.

They actually responded, saying that they did not consider that a broken promise.

So I'm just saying, they're not totally non-partisan in their judgments, either.

Whatever the accuracy of his promises broken or not,. his spending has been more than the combined administrations in our history. Ma. has a plan that gives insurance too every resident. The program is drowning in debt in the short time it has been in place., Have forgotten the exact number but very large the number of LEGAL immigrants that they are dropping to cut costs. Statistics show that people are STILL showing up at emergency rooms because the wait is so long to see a primary care physician...

2 people I would not like to see daily on the news voicing the same thing over and over-Obama and Mark Sanford- makes me ill the both of them. The "GOOD" news is in a speech in Thailand Hillary did NOT rule out that she might again run yet again for President-she was much better than I am at seeing and pointing out how ill prepared he is

The head of the Independent Budget Office was INVITED to a meeting with Obama in the Oval Office today. After the meeting he said on his blog that his office would not be influenced by the meeting but how" EXCITING" it was to meet with the President. Since no one can remember a similar meeting ever taking place one would hope that unless some of these plans are fundamentally changed, this poor "bean counter" won't put his integrity in question and change how he sees things. Just as a side note it was the CBO which basically brought "Hillary Care'"to halt :0

Amen to that, Goddess. I resent several of President Bush's broken promises, too. His second term was a great disappointment to me and many conservatives.

(Sorry - I should have said except he did keep us safe from further terrorist attacks and he did keep the lowered tax rate and he did keep the lowered unemployment rate up until close to the end of his presidency. Other than those, he didn't keep the promises I was hoping would be kept.)

The safer part is debatable, but I don't feel like it. Maybe next time.

Off topic but now we are parsing words as to what "CLOSING "means-some reference to Gitmo a very foolish feel-good promise from a candidate who had not had the job of doing it

And you guys were doing so well!
It took five hours for the initial post to be answered and I really thought discretion might prevail....but you wouldn't let it lie. (To quote Vic Reeves)

Appeal to the liberals: don't answer these posts, please. It will only end in tears.

Sorry, Alice, he is not the kind of President he promised to be.

There are lobbyists working in the White House almost from Day One.

There is very little transparency.

There is nothing new about this style of politics. It is same old, same old, same old - and quite partisan.

He lied about his stimulus package and now he's lying about the health care proposal he's trying to slip through Congress, also without deliberate review.

Instead of bringing us together, he is acting divisively.

Since no one had posted anything for about an hour or more just thought I would note that this total bore of a prime time press conference was his 5th in 6 month. You may have hated Bush but he only prempted your prime time shows 4 times in 8 years. Feel free to flush, Steve

Just a whole lot of lying going on, Jank.

Obama's on a slippery slope these days. Aside from reviving the opposition and creating a whole host of new adversaries, he could sabotage his own Presidency by hewing to the present course.

One's health care is just not an issue where anyone wants to be lied to.

Just the facts, Bobo.

Facts are neither liberal nor conservative.

Politics was supposed to be better with a President assumed to be smarter than his predecessor. But he just talks mumbo jumbo pep rally style on health care. No details, no frank discussion for the American people. Rather juvenile, don't you think?

Already wearing thin and the independents who elected Obama are deserting him.

Andy, do you think that the Democratic party set up Obama as a patsy knowing that he'd never be able to live up to all of his trash talking promises? Maybe setting the stage to put their real Chosen One in office in 2012? I didn't believe any of his promises before the election. Could the Dem's have felt that way, too?

Felix, I don't deal in conspiracy theories. I just think Obama has overinterpreted his mandate (which above all is to fix the economy) and broken way too many promises about the style of governance he promised.
