Absolutely NOTHING has changed in the proposals out there for health care except the name. No longer URGENT that we pas health care reform as it is not going down well with the folks. It is now Insurance Reform. Demonizing the insurance companies-not that they don't need demonizing in many aspects lik big oil was demonzed. Pretty much everyone who has health insurance has had difficulty if they had a claims question. He is hoping with the name change that people won't seethe bottom line - the cost on top of everything he has already spent will put the US on the brink of bankruptcy, care will be rationed, and lines will be long. Canada has a 16% higher death rate from cancer than we do. It you want to get an up close look at how well insuraning everyone works, look at MA.- People still going to ER because they cannot get a family doc and legal immigrants being thrown out of the plan and it still is bankrupting the state. This idea that wih a public plan being only an option might work if you pay for your insurance yourself. If it is up to most companies to choose the fine will be cheaper than insuring employees as the government has unlimited funds. Do the math...

Ah, but what they don't say is that it's not really going to be an option. You'll have to get insurance or pay a fine to the government, which is really just a way of adding another tax to the 95% who were promised NO taxes of any kind. Not to mention that if you leave a job and start your own business, there's a provision that you will have to choose the public option - you won't be allowed to buy private. It's just another example of the great and powerful Ob misdirecting us so we don't notice what's really going on.

Yes, you are correct, Judy. The rumblings are just beginning about specific wording being put into anything that no taxppayer money will be used to fund abortions-vast percentage of American people don't think it should be as it is not health "care" no mattter what your view on the issue itself. It anyone was willing to go against the huge lawyer lobby and limit cap malpractice suits or make those who bring frivoulous lawsuits (would extend this out of the medical field) against doctors and hospitals that would be an excellent start. Doctors and hospitals have every right to fear lawsuits as the US folks are sue happy so they test and retest. But no one will buck that lobby which is the biggest winner in the lawsuit and not the plaintiff.

Oh, and don't forget the 10 million or so illegals we will have to pay for as well.

Also, when a young strapping man and my 80 year old grandma both need heart surgery who do you think will get it? That's right. This is gonna screw the elderly so bad. Why would the government pay to operate on an elderly person when they could spend that money on someone younger?

Pixie, that is a decision a society may choose to make.

The problem here is that it is being buried by Obama et al.

I Ohio today he was totally back in campaign mode. Nothing really about how he would pay for it or who might be excluded nor included. I expected him to really rally the crowd with a, "Yes, we CAN" Talk about oveexposure

He's using his Rock Star status and bullying to get what he wants.

Someone on another site made a good point...if this National Health Care Plan is so great why don't they put all the congressmen and senators and such on it. That'd be interesting.

Oh - I was wondering why he flew to Cleveland? Why there?

Then I watched the speech and it was immediately obvious.

He didn't give ONE fact. Not one. He did nothing but give a pep talk full of empty promises with no support - he had pretty much nothing but the equivalent of "trust me" with a wink and a smile with that twinkle they add in graphics.

And then I figured it out. He went there because there would be an audience that would do nothing but applaud him. It sounded like my church, peppered with "Amen" and "That's right"....and of course the perfunctory interruption cheer "We love you Obama!" which sounded like a group of teenage girls, to which he replied, "I love you too!"

Tell me - is there even ONE other president that bunch of people would break out with "we love you"? "We love you Clinton" (No. I'm not going to say it. Let's leave that in the past.) or "We love you Reagan."

Huh uh. Never. (And I did love President Reagan - I voted for him 4 times! But never would I have brought shame on myself by chanting out "I love you, Reagan.")

Linda is right - it was nothing but a candidate speech again...a "Yes we can" change and hope speech full of promises that many others in the medical profession are coming out of the woodwork to dispute as not even feasible.

I'm guessing he's bruised a bit by not getting 100% lockstep support from the dems. So he went where he could hear people who all would loudly agree with him.

So the pep talk? It was geared toward him. He's the one who needed pepped up.
