"Happiness is always a by-product. It is probably a matter of temperament, and for anything I know it may be glandular. But it is not something that can be demanded from life, and if you are not happy you had better stop worrying about it and see what treasures you can pluck from your own brand of unhappiness."

- Robertson Davies

How funny that this topic was posted; I just read this quote this morning:

"People take different roads seeking fulfillment and happiness. Just because they're not on your road doesn't mean they've gotten lost." H. Jackson Brown

If there were in the world today any large number of people who desired their own happiness more than they desired the unhappiness of others, we could have paradise in a few years. Bertrand Russell

Laughing is the sensation of feeling good all over and showing it principally in one spot. Josh Billings

It's a helluva lot more fun sitting and laughing with friends and family for hours, than being angry or envious of them for years. ME! Although it has been stated in some form by others over the years, I'm sure.

We make the meaning of our lives. If it is the intended meaning, that's happiness.

I'd rather laugh with the sinners than cry with the saints, the sinners are much more fun.....

I cannot tell if what the world considers 'happiness' is happiness or not. All I know is that when I consider the way they go about attaining it, I see them carried away headlong, grim and obsessed, in the general onrush of the human herd, unable to stop themselves or to change their direction. All the while they claim to be just on the point of attaining happiness....Chuang-tzu.

How about this for a little happiness...I think it's Robert Louis Stevenson...someone correct me if I'm wrong.

"The world is full of wonderful things, I'm sure we should all be as happy as kings."

It's so easy to dwell on negatives and the media thrives on every little thing that is negative. I've been tuning out the news lately.

When one door of happiness closes, another opens; but often we look so long at the closed door that we do not see the one which has been opened for us. --Helen Keller

My darling wife does her best to make me miserable. You would think after 17 years she would give it up, isn't working. I love her more than the day we wed.

Everyone has the power to make others happy. Some do it by entering the room, others by leaving it.
