WE'RE BACK ONLINE

Hello all -

I was involved in a serious motor vehicle accident at 4PM this past Wednesday. I do not recall the accident in any way and was taken to the hospital by ambulance. It's all very blurry but prior to the accident I was working on the site and had to leave to get a computer monitor for a development server here at my house. En route to pick up that monitor is when the accident occurred, leaving my connections to the production machines open. Ultimately one of the scripts I was running crashed, causing a cascading failure which brought the entire site down.

Unfortunately, my truck and I crashed at about the same time - and without a proper disaster recovery or access control policy the site was left unavailable for quite some time. Policies are now being put in place to prevent this from happening in the future.

My vehicle was not nearly as lucky as I - but here I am home now and feeling OK. I will post details about the accident later so that those of you who are interested can get the scoop. It was a life-altering event for me. According to a deputy and a medic who were on the scene I am lucky to be alive. I would agree with that assessment.

Thank you,
Justin

So, in other words, you want us all to write the newspaper and admit that it was all OUR fault the accident happened.

I, being the worrying mom, was beginning to fear you were pulling a Snake Plissken on us.

I've never been more pleased to be wrong. And I've had LOTS of practice.

I can't believe you're back, Justin, and posting and the site is running! I was thinking it may be a long time before the site was back up and wasn't sure how serious your injuries were. I guess you were really lucky, or someone was watching over you. Probably the latter. Glad you are back and doing as well as you are. Thanks for being so dedicated, too. I imagine a lot of Sploofusers days weren't the same last night and today. I know I would wake up in the night and no picture to check out. Guess it's hard to break old habits. Thanks, again!

So glad to hear that you are okay and as many others have said trucks are replaceable aned you are not!!! I'm sure all those Sploofus prayers had something to do with your still being with us. Hope your recovery is speedy and thanks so much for getting us back up as I missed Sploofus terribly for the day we were down. Keep getting better and take your time with life. Oh Justin it is so nice to see you back, and good to know that you survived your accident. When I could not gain access to Sploofus over the past 24 hours, I worried that is might be something more serious than a technical glitch, and connected with you. But all’s well that ends well, and long live the Island!

Justin:
Great to have you back. Without a doubt, everyone was very concerned about your well being.
Too bad Rita's Water Ice didn't pick Sploofus Goofus as the winning mystery flavor a few months ago.
I would be rushing out right now to have one to celebrate your return.
But I'll be patient [even Jank too-] and wait until we can nominate it again in their next contest.

Now hubbie (Haydn) knows what true withdrawal is like.

Any I got a panic call from my friend Joyce (rajuncajun) today "where's Sploofus".

I'm glad you're okay, Justin. Let us send warm fuzzies toward your full recovery.

And we know the starts are properly in line when Smaug has his priorities straight as usual.

Justin, I thrilled you're back. I had to breathe slowly while waiting for your recovery. We can have more fun now. I know about those monitors. One of my two lap tops monitors blew out and my grand daughter has my my brand new cherry red lap top for school projects. So I have to use this clunky, slow desktop.
The important thing is you're okay.

Stay well!

I still can't figure out how you got yourself out of the hospital, off to Flint and made the corrections. Frankly, your long term recovery is more important than a rush job that does more damage to your well being so take care and get well, following the Doctor's orders. Fat chance, but I thought I would say it anyway. Thanks for getting us back up.

Even more cruelty of life:

Almost immediately after Sploofus went back online, the internet in my area went down, and it wasn't repaired till some time during the night.

More explanation why I don't buy lottery tickets. Sigh..........

When you reflect back on this horrible -- but life changing -- event, take heart in all of the friends that you have, and absorb the mega-bytes of thoughts and prayers that are literally flying toward you right now in and out of cyber space to encourage and support your full recovery! Please, do remember to rest, Emily

So terribly sorry about your accident Justin, and I shudder
when I think of what the consequences might have been....

That's one of the things I think we learn as we get older.
No matter how important it seems to us - to rush around
trying to do everything perfectly - it's much better to take
the time and "get there"

I'm betting that your family are thinking about this accident
as we all are - and how we would have felt had we lost you.
Take care of yourself Justin.
