I'm not sure if this is the right place to do it, but i'd like to apologise to the editor who edited my "Equatorial" quiz. While i'm at it, sorry to anyone else who caught the rough end of a bad day for me. Health issues, pet issues, client issues and a lack of sleep made for a very tetchy me. It's bad form to have a go at someone who gives you an EA though, sorry.

I read recently that most of us are venting way too much on the web. It's just too easy to slam something into the message and stomp on SEND, before the brain engages. We're all too tense, too busy, too everything. I even get some real choice comments on my quizzes now and again. Abusive rants. About a quiz question? You know someone is on the bad edge of their day when they rant vehemently about a quiz question. All to say, it seems that hasty crap on the internet is going around.

Hope your apology is taken in. Hope your tomorrow is better.

Did you respond to your PMs? They are in contact with you there, are they not? Seems that would be the best place to apologize, not sure why you did it here.

Support ticket is the best way to talk with Editors. Regards

I was not the Editor in this case, but just FYI - public apologies, public thanks, public praise, public fun and frivolity are all good things to post here.

Please use the Support Tickets for things that need to be fixed...when you need a reset to a WP, when a comment needs to be removed from a quiz, when you have a concern or complaint, when your TQOTD timer unfairly runs down after you answer, when the WTH doesn't accept a seemingly correct answer, etc.

We have fielded over 13,000 Help requests (aka Support Tickets), so please use that system only when you do actually need some help

And we all know that everyone has a bad day now and then - we hope you all have a marvelous day today

I'll be brutally honest here. I "knew" i'd written a good quiz, and HOW DARE this editor pick holes in it !!!!! My dog is nearly blind and had taken a fall, my legs are becoming a constant source of annoyance, a client decided to relapse while phoning me at 2am, and on and on it went. I signed on here for some relief, fully expecting to see i'd got another EA (;$), and valid remarks read like abuse. This "confessional" may seem like an embarrassment, but it's the way i am these days. Brutal honesty equals sobriety. Of course today the dog is fine, the effects of neuropathy have eased, and obviously i'm not responsible for other people drinking.

I always say that you shouldn't count your chickens until you've walked a mile in their shoes. And Scarlett O'Hara always said "After all, tomorrow is another day." I'm glad things are better today, Dave.

Hey, Dave! You have a lot of courage to post what you did. My mother had addiction issues that truly ate her alive. She was NOT able to maintain her sobriety -- ever! I respect and support you all the way. Keep doing whatever it is that you need to do to hold on to your sobriety. I truly know what a rough road it can be. I also hope your dog continues to get better -- I couldn't handle it if something happened to my beloved cat! All the best, Emily

The support i've had here on Sploofus for my sobriety is truly amazing, thank you. I used to cut corners, it didn't work.

We can get pretty ego-tied into our quizzes. On occasion an Editor is wrong, but most of the time they are steering me in a better direction. If I will get off my adoration of my creation, and listen. It requires trust that the Editors are there to make us better at what we're doing. Not to "abuse" or criticize. I believe that is true. There's one Editor who is A quality good. I mean that person knows language really well, and takes the time to pay attention to a quiz. What you might call "poke holes." I find that Editor is always open to communication though, and is just someone who takes the job seriously.

I do feel that one Editor has a nasty tone. As if we all just irritate the crap out of this person and s/he can't stand Editing. Maybe that Editor has bad days, too. Or ...maybe that Editor is too violent with the red pen. Sometimes people are.

In any case, it's not a perfect process.'s good practice to avoid going off on people when we're a wreck. 100% of us are just trying to get through life in one piece.

I would say if you are having one of those really rough days, just write about that, here in the thread. People here are good listeners, and really funny--they can lift your spirits. Don't slog through a rough day alone.

Isn't Scarlett the one whose city got burnt down, whose society and culture was crushed, and whose man told her to take a hike, all within the span of four cinematic hours? I'm guessing that in the "tomorrow" after the filming stopped, a runaway train plowed through Tara and ran her over.

I'm the editor who edited Clevercloggs' quiz.

Clevercloggs -- Thank you for your heartfelt post. It and the feedback you gave me on your quiz made me reflect on communication and how I could have done a better job. I appreciate it and look forward to editing more of your quizzes (and those of other Sploofus players) in the future.
