NO SHOES, NO SERVICE

Did you guys read about the Burger King in Missouri where the manager kicked out a woman because her 6 month old baby was barefoot? He even threatened to call the cops when they protested.

Some folks need to just take a chance and burn a brain cell once in a while - save the rest of us a lot of agg.

When common-sense-challenged people threaten to "call the police" - that's the time to pull out the cellphone and call the police in front of them first.

I've done that before. It works.

I don't know whether to laugh because it is a Burger King (traditional the slowest FF restaurant with the least trained employees) or Missouri.

Hey! I live in Missouri! Watch out, buddy!

Seriously, though. I worked in a library with a high counter and people were always letting their kids' "cute" little baby feet walk all over it. Disgusting.

How is a little baby's bare feet on a counter any more "disgusting" than the hundreds of hands that touch it every day? At least nobody sneezes or wipes their nose and mouth schmutz on babies' feet.

When I see a sign that says "No Shoes, No Shirt, No Service," I always wonder what would happen if I walked in without pants.

I'm not saying baby feet are MORE disgusting than those other things, just pointing out that baby's feet, which often end up in baby's mouth along with anything else, are not necessarily clean just because they're attached to cute little babies. Many people, not me, are greatly disgusted by feet, in general. Not defending the over-the-top manager....

Are you sure it was Burger King?

Sounds more like Denny's!

Now that you mention it, my baby grandson has never worn shoes in a restaurant. He equates shoes with "getting down and running around" and equates shoes off with "sit in the chair and eat."

No one has ever said a word. But then I've never heard of anyone anywhere requiring a baby to have shoes on till today. I have to admit, it never even crossed my mind, even when working as a waitress.

In fact, in summer here, I see many babies in fast food places with no shirt on while they eat, just a bib, to prevent getting their clothes all messed up. Plus, it's been 100 or more degrees here for about 45 days this summer. As long as a baby has a diaper on, everyone is pretty much happy for them.

I used to carry my boy around with socks on, but being a baby, they disappeared and more often than not he was barefoot.

Calmer heads (and nationwide laughter and outrage) have prevailed.

He needs a slap. I went into a pub with two Hells Angels once, the Golden Lion in Bexleyheath as i recall. We were not looking for trouble, but we were were all bikers, and dressed accordingly. The idiot behind the bar looked at my mate, aptly named " Dobermann" and informed him "I don't serve anyone wearing a leather jacket." Dobermann disagreed. The manager spent the next half hour serving everyone in a leather jacket, Dobermanns leather jacket. Nobody was harmed, and i think that barman learnt a valuable lesson in customer realations. The pub in question was in court less than a year later, for serving underage kids.
