I remember so many of his films that were just wonderful. Watching "Christmas Vacation" is a tradition at my house and has been for many years. I adored the "Breakfast Club". He will be greatly missed.

Sadness. Christmas Vacation is one of my all-time favorites, as is Sixteen Candles.

This is sad. I loved his movies. He was from my home city, Lansing, Michigan. Our thoughts and prayers go out to him and his family and friends.

He dominates my list of all-time fave movies. So sad he's gone, and only 59.

This is a bad year for children of the 80's. John Hughes directed some of my favourite films of all time, and rewatching them always takes me back to my youth.

He was married to his high school sweetheart for 39 years.
