Hi all, just returned from vacation, now I can get back to sploofus,we went to New Orleans(one of our favorite places if not the favorite)took the Katrina tour,we took the first one several months after Katrina hit but this one let you go into the ninth wardand let me tell you if any of you want to see what a "class act" hurricane can do go to the big easy & take the tour,it will make you thank God for what you have.A lot of it showed the homes they have reconstructed or tore down and built anew, then there were the ones that haven't been gutted. Our tour guide told us that when they let them back in to not even open the frig/freezer doors and just tape them shut and throw to the curb. Can you imagine the stench of months of rotten meat etc?they scoop these house out with a scoop shovel that is the ones that are salvagable. We saw Fats Dominos home and its restoration if you'll remember he was one of the brave or stupid that wouldn't leave when the area was evacuated,he finally got on top of his roof and stayed there 2-3 days and then let the people get him down.I'm sorry I'm so windy but this unbelievable and heart breaking. thanks for listening, Buchanan

Saw the same area last January. Know where you're coming from.

Detroit accomplished the same destruction without the benefit of a hurricane. It just took a little longer.

True. The demise of the auto industry was catastrophic over a longer haul.

Thanks, Buchanan for letting us know what it was like there. My dad usually goes to Mardi Gra. One of my my girl friends whom I volunteer with went 2 years ago. She mostly talked about the jazz artists rebuilding it up with their concerts. She also went to help contribute to its economy. I hope there were other aspects of your vacation you could enjoy much better.

I live there, as you all know. I truly believe every single American should come see the huge neighborhood that still are in ruins. Block upon block where one home on each block is in good shape with flowers in the yard and floor and walls surrounded by boarded up homes on both sides and across the street with hip high weeds. EEECH.

Come see. We have a spare bedroom.
