I had never heard of anyone or anything to do with this. Having said that, i enjoyed the research finding out. It was possible to work out the "real" answers, i appreciate that in WP's. Good fun.

Very enjoyable, Al! I guess I had an advantage because I knew the subject matter(s) a bit.

I'm still quite shocked that Clevercloggs didn't think "Rhodesian Ridgeback to the Future" and "I Am Curious Yellow Labrador" were "real."

Unfortunately I wasn't familiar with the subject matter that well either. But it was possible to keep punching in letters to come up with the right answer. Actually, it was an interesting puzzle.

Wasn't your fault Al that I insisted on typing the same wsrong phrase in so many times that I reached the frustration point and had to exit. Always appreciate the efforts of quiz and puzzle writers

Al, great puzzle. Howdy Doody was one of my favorite shows. "It's Dowdy Doody Time" still brings a smile! Oh those memories are wonderful. . .carefree youth.

Great one as usual, Al. I never would have thought of putting those 2 guys together in one WP.

I think you're limited on the number of letters you can have in one word in a WP.
The princess would break the bank on that one.

Since I'll be a Sploofus refugee for awhile, I'll again thank everyone for their kind and comforting well wishes as I undergo my eye surgery on Monday August 17.
I'll definitely miss playing some of the games, especially the word puzzles. Many of you solved the recent "Salutes Bob Smith[s]" puzzle I submitted awhile back, and I'll list all ten clues/phrases since it involved two performers named Bob Smith.
I have a few concepts for future puzzles in mind, and will happily contribute some more puzzles as I heal and recover.

One personal "political" observation. Fortunately, through my history of employment [attained through collective bargaining, during my 35 years as a union member and leader], I have enjoyed pretty good family health care coverage. I have been able to get responsive and modern technology based professional health care recently as my eye problems have surfaced.
I am thankful for that. But I worry that another person facing a similar situation who does not have private coverage would not have been able to get the type of care as quickly or would possibly face financial catastrophe. The problem of being uninsured should not be minimized.

And now- here are the puzzles.
ALVANDY Salutes Bob Smith(s)
Buffalo Bob Smith and Bob "Wolfman Jack" Smith

buffalo bob created and hosted the howdy doody show for thirteen years ("A gallery rousing cheer")
phineas t bluster flub a dub dilly dally and clarabell the clown ("Four from Doodyville")
heidi was introduced as a stranger who saved buffalo bobs life ("Howdy's heroic sister")
bob keeshan played clarabell on the howdy doody show for four seasons ("Pre-Captain Kangaroo")
chief thunderthuds greeting is listed in the oxford english dictionary ("Cowabunga")
wolfman jack was born robert w smith in nineteen thirty eight ("A "wolf" cub is born")
wolfman jack played himself in american graffiti and its later sequel ("Deejay movie star")
he was featured on their tribute hit record clap for the wolfman ("The Guess Who's salute")
wolfman jack served as announcer on the midnight special television series ("Theme by Johnny Rivers")
wolfman jack was inducted into radio hall of fame a year after his death ("Legend of the airwaves")

thanks
Al
