ACTIVATION OF QUIZZES

This is not a complaint. I noticed that on the Sunday of Mother's Day quizzes were activated at lightening speed. In fact, they came and went so fast that they did not remain on the front page but a few minutes. Have observed that in order for a quiz to make the top 25 list and thus remain visible to the average player, it must have 6,000 pts. or better. Of course this is affected by average rating and number of takers. The activating has slowed down again. I for one am not unhappy about this especially if one of mine is in the 30 most recent. lol Was just wondering if either the speed-up or slow-down was a planned thing or just the "way things go". As I said no complaint just curiosity-Linda

Hi Linda - Yes, it sure was fast that day! It is only a function of how many editors are online at any given moment. Pesky things like work sometimes gets in the way. Possibly Mother's Day weekend was just a time when folks were around the house.

There is no plan/quota for approving quizzes, and there is no fixed schedule. Quizzes appear in the queue in bursts and clusters. Somedays hardly a new quiz enters the mix, other day they come in faster than we can approve them.

Also, some quizzes take longer than other. Some quizzes are simple with a minimum of words. A check for plagiarism takes a few minutes, then the spell/grammar check is a breeze. Other quizzes have questions like short stories and take considerable more time to check through. Also quizzes with reams of errors take an extra long time to mark-up for fixing. You cannot just write "You have lots of errors. Fix them." on them and send them back. You need to delineate them, which is very time consuming.

Also, all of the editors, except one we "don't talk about" have jobs that consume big chunks of time. Family also play into the mix.

Rest assured we are carrying out our duties with due diligences.

I know you are doing job your and and doing it well, Sloopfusionist. I tried to make clear in my originakl post that it was in no way a complaint. I am one who usually writes more lengthgy questions so I am a time- consumer. I am getting better with finding errors before I launch the quiz but sure I miss some. I appreciate and thank you for youur time and all you do. Linda
