I have just received my fourth sports soup QOTD in a row this week and again the question was based on one of the four American professional sports, the previous three were baseball, baseball, basketball the one today was American football. Can some of the editors please adjust the database of questions to give some of us non American members of sploofus a chance of getting the QOTD right. We pay our membership as well. Now I know the majority of members are Americans so the questions would be orientated towards them but please, please give us a sporting chance.

I know that this has been discussed previously on sploofus and people mention that they have received questions on snooker, cricket and the such but they are few and far between. I think of all the time I have been on sploofus I have only received one sport soup QOTD from outside the big four.

That's why I have Sports Soup as my exempt category.

I have opted out of the Sports Soup TQOTD a long time ago for this particular reason. Cheers

The original database, which Justin purchased when Sploofus began may have been American-written, but since then many thousands of additional questions have been written by the editors, who do come from all over the world. Every effort has been made to broaden the scope of questions to reflect the locales of our members.

As we've repeatedly posted in this forum, we cannot control the topic of the question that you receive each day - that is completely computer driven.

The editors have recently been given the ability to edit the stock of questions, and as we receive specific complaints about questions we have been able to go in and fix them.

Well, Clem, I missed my chance to see this great sport last August during my only trip ever to the Emerald Isle.

Has to be better than cricket.

I just had a first occurrence on my TQOTD. I didn't know the answer (that's NOT unusual) and in trying to figure it out, I took too much time. I chose my best guess and luckily got it correct.

The next window said:

You answered correctly in 30.65 seconds!

Over 30 seconds? I've had the timer work strangely before - but I've NEVER had it register after I took too long.

Maybe that kind of evens out things for the times it didn't work correctly the other direction (or so I thought)!

Yeh, left-handed baseball pitchers of 1927 I don't like!

I had sports today, too. Name of some racehorse from before I was born. American enough I suppose, but I only got it because the right answer was the top one and that's the one I pick when I don't know. I'm a fair-to-middlin' sports fan but I'd block the category if I weren't so bad at music.

Somehow I am reminded of a scene from "City Slickers". The group is discussing baseball. The girl on the trip says, "Oh I like baseball. I just don't see why you have to talk about it all the time. I mean, why should I care about who played third base for the Pittsburgh Pirates in 1960?" All three guys immediately shout, "Don Hoak!" (Which is exactly what I did the first time I saw the movie...but then I'm addicted.)
