GUNS. NOT A SECOND AMENDMENT POST.

PLEASE; don 't attack or defend the 2nd amendment here.
This is not designed to get political views; I'm just curious.

How many sploofusers
1) own a gun?
2) have carried a gun when leaving the house on any activity except hunting/shooting?
3) Think they can envisage a situation where they might carry a gun?

Barry

If you feel like posting a defense or attack of owning or carrying a gun please dont answer this question. At all.

Used to own a hand gun don't now- have a shotgum loaded beside my chair-most likely will not take the shotgun on my next visit to Walmar-generic enough for you, Barry?

My belief is that only Justin can/should start a thread and try to control who posts or what they say-but then we seldom agree on much of anything, Barry. I do try to respect truly nice folks like my friend Karen who asks fr no politics on her threads-lotsa luck

I own 2 handguns, 3 rifles, and 2 shotguns. I have never carried any outside the house for other than target use or hunting. I might add that I quit hunting 45 years ago, Can't bring myself to shoot animals but I have nothing against those who enjoy the sport. My son has a carry permit and almost always has one with him. He started 4 years ago when he was involved in bank repossessions but has not had to unholster it yet. Responsibility is the key word for anyone owning a weapon.

Barry just what's to know how many sploofusers not to p.o. As the climate is changing in America; one really needs to be careful of their surroundings. As for me I envision carrying a stun gun.

Have never so much as touched a gun. Hoping I never will. (Though there's something appealing about the idea of skeet shooting.)

Oh, but I do live in the country now. Well, not quite.

My husband and I have 1 handgun, a 32 caliber pistol that my husband owned when we married almost 40 years ago and it hasn't been off the shelf or loaded (we don't even have bullets for it) in too many years to remember. We have a 22 rifle because of the coyote problem in the area. The clips and extra ammunition stay locked in a box away from the rifle.

On the other hand, we co-own our farm with my daughter and her family, and in addition to being an attorney, she is a former law enforcement officer and does private work for a security company for entertainers and special events , She "packs" a 9mm glock and baretta. Needless to say both guns are stored properly. I pretty much go into shock when she walks out the door and is working somewhere besides her office or the Court. She's my oldest and I still wait up to see her headlights coming down the driveway

My son and I were just talking how a very few years ago, you could buy guns and ammo at the grocery stores here in Texas.

1. I own my Dad's guns, which include a rifle that hasn't been fired in - decades, and a .38 pistol that my dad's dad bought used at a pharmacy in Memphis, TX. It has the name of the previous owner scratched into the barrel and it is pushing 90 years old, but still works perfectly.

2. Only when I've moved. I've tried shooting to help ranchers against varmints in the Texas Panhandle, but after I shot the first one, I couldn't do it any more and left the job to heartier souls than mine.

3. Absolutely. When Korea pushed us to the brink of war in 1994, my Marine son who was due to be shipped out any hour told me the next world war won't really be fought somewhere else - it will be fought everywhere, including in our front yards here in the United States. He told me that being an only son would no longer keep him off the front line, because the front line will be everywhere. I can't help fight for my country the way I could when I was younger, but I would gladly do my part - whatever that would have to be - to protect the United States of America from any and all enemies - in my neck of the woods, at least.

My husband packs a pistol every day, as he is a forester and some days he is in places where there are bears, wolves, and mountain lions. We also pack a pistol when we are camping way out in the wilderness.

Foogs, I said that tongue-in-cheek because it scares the dickens out of me every time my daughter works a bodyguard job. She's a petite person and when she starts out the door her dad will always ask "Are you packin' heat honey?" She smiles at us and says "I love you guys, I'll be home soon as I can." I guess he's just trying to lighten up the situation because he knows how I worry. So I hope I didn't offend you with the terminology. It's just urban slang I guess.

We have antique guns and rifles locked in a gun cabinet. They belonged to my now deceased father-in-law. We have no ammunition for these weapons. Included is a German Luger apparently taken from a victim during WWII (shudder). I've never shot a gun or carried one out of my house.

I own 7 handguns, and several other guns.
maybe once, or twice, never for fear of needing it.
Yes, I can...and the key thing is knowing you will and can if the need be. Never carry or place a gun in a place where a bad guy could find it or take it away from you and use it on you if you unless you are 100% certain you can pull that trigger in a moment of need.

1-- I own a gun.
2 -- no
3 -- my pistol is loaded and is right by my bed within easy reach. i'm totally bed-ridden and alone 12-16 hours a day (except for my little dog). After hurricanes Ivan and Katrina, instances of home invasions shot up here in the FL panhandle. Homes of the elderly seem to be targeted most often. If someone comes into my home, uninvited, I WILL defend myself by using that gun. I hope I never am put in that situation though.

I don't own a gun and I do not know anyone who do so.
I remember that the husband of my nanny, when i was a kid, had a machine gun in his bedroom. Memorabilia from the Algerian War.
I was lucky or unlucky to use military weapons. Weapons that would kill a man with one shot at more than 200 meters.
I am too short temper to have a gun anyway.

When you leave the house "packing" for an activity other
than hunting/shooting, do you envision yourself as:

a) John Wayne
b) James Cagney
c) Tupac Shakur
d) David Berkowitz
e) Shelley Shannon
f) all of the above
