Marsha - you've waited so long for this. I couldn't be happier for you.

And in the same spirit of the letter, I would like to offer my services as your financial advisor now - for such a nominal fee - maybe 10% if you think that's fair.

I'll tender my resignation at my old job in the morning and meet you at the bank before lunch at the top of Reunion tower.

Isn't a pity that one can't reply to these vermin ? Of course a reply would mean you'd be snowed under with hundreds more of the same. I could have real fun if it weren't for that.

They are hoping some one responds in some way, because then they verify that its a valid email address and they sell that email address to others.

Just delete them or block them, but don't ever respond or hit reply in any way.

Like all similar scams circulating around the world at present, they are both cruel and evil. Ok for those who can see through the deceit, but having seen many television documentaries on the subject, the swindles are beyond criminal when vulnerable old people are conned, into parting with their life savings by believing it is just a “fee” to receive their “prizes”.

I got my first letter like that about 25 years ago, written in longhand from Chief Alikali. He has become a fixture in our family ever since. I think I still have the letter somewhere. It is hard to believe that anyone expects people to fall for stuff like that, but I'm sure it happens.

Yeah, I have 2 family members who fell for the Nigerian scam. Can you believe it? I personally scanned the letter, check and envelope and sent it to my Attorney General's office. Here's hoping they catch the nefarious schemers.

I always delete them or reply by telling them I work for Interpol and that they are being monitored very closely.

Well, at first I was, like, way jealous, but now my very own ship has arrived. I don't know how much is in my suspence account (hence the suspense!), but I'm certain Mr. Sanusi wouldn't have bothered me over a trifle. After all, he is both candid and sincere.

From Central Bank of Nigeria
Alhaji Sanusi Lamido Sanusi
Tel:234-807 188 2599
I am Mr. Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, the new appointed Governor Central bank of Nigeria, I came across a file with your name and some relevant information, your fund is on a suspence account here in central bank of Nigeria. The funny part of it is that the immediate past Central bank Governor and some of these names listd below have worked with you in the past without them releasing your payment.

To be candid with you, they did not let you know the position, fact and sitution why you have not been paid, why did you submit three account information with different names? without proper affidavit backing it up ,for your information no bank in this world will pay you in a situation like this.

Please, respond this letter and indicate which account you want your fund to be transferred,
Finally reply with
1) Phone number
2) complete name
3) Your Address
Yours Sincerely,
Mr.Sanusi Lamido Sanusi

Geez, Asor, why DID you submit your information to three different accounts? I'm in suspense waiting for your answer.

I know, that's yet another "funny part" about this whole business. And what was I thinking not submitting affidavits? No wonder he sounds peeved.

I have to say, I really miss working with GODSON PETERS and FRANCESS EKE, even though neither handed over my funds and FRANCESS was constantly being startled by one thing or another. Ouagadougou Burkinafaso was a different story: always came in late and had a tendency to swipe my CLEARLY LABELED lunches from the fridge. A real piece of work.

I realize I run the risk of inciting intense jealousy--I mean, honestly, how lucky can one person be in a week?--but I thought my latest windfall was well worth sharing. I cannot believe those selfish, corrupt government officials almost held my funds to themselves!! Thank heavens for honest folk like Miss Angelina Wright.

Now, I'm gonna go out and get me some terrorists!
