MLB POSTSEASON

Despite smaug's invitation I thik a new thread to discuss who has the best major league top three should be posted on a new thread.

Go ahead; convince me its not, say, the Giants, who probably wont make the post season. And whose batting makes the Mets look almost respectable (I did say almost)

Barry admired your post on another thread. Admiring from afar in cyberspace. Not stalking mind you. Hey go Bears!

Couldn't name a good pitcher, but if I could, the Pirates would promptly trade him for a "young prospect".

Glad to see you mentioned CC Sabathia, Don.

He won his 16th last night. I'm a Yankee fan and have been all my life. This year is starting to look very good if they can keep their momentum.

some interesting answers here...but I just wondered using objective standards (ERA or the like) which team had projected best three pitchers, not which individual pitchers rate to do well.
Obviously in the NL phillies might have good chance; do other teams compare?

(In the past the braves had the best five but never the best three even when Smoltz Glavine and Maddux were available. I'm not convinced by the Yankees following Sabathia -- are you?)

Just wondering who would have been better than Maddux, Glavine and Smoltz?

Felix

Given Smoltz's record you'd have to say the other two must have underperformed, given only one world series win. But day in day out they looked an unbeatable trio and their record suggests that. I have no explanation why they didnt win more but as my wife (a Milwaukee braves supporter traumatized by their defection) would say; who cares?

Actually Sabathia didn't win last night, it was a no decision for him. Bad info from me, sorry! Yanks won in the 10th, Bruney was on the mound in the top of the inning, he's the WP.

I am a Mets fan, so I can be completely objective! I don't have a horse in this race or any other race this year, except maybe most visits to the DL. I think this year's best pitchers are Verlander, Carpenter and Lincecum.

I agree about Tim Lincecum though I'm an American League fan. Roy Halladay and my favorite for the three CC Sabathia rounds it out for me.
