I would like to know if either dog or cat have been found.

I'm about to rescue my 4th cat the past 2 years. The little woods outside my windows is some kind of Cat-magnet. Unsafe for them because of wilder animals with big claws, other cats, unsafe eating stuff, filthy run-off water, mosquitoes the size of Denmark.

All over the US people are dumping their animals...even horses...dogs...cows...just leaving them or pushing them off the property, tying them to a post somewhere...moving away and leaving them locked in the house...because they don't feel they can afford to keep them.

Our better side is not shining through, of late.

Like you, I wish folks would be as loyal to their animals as the animals have been to them. It's tragic that some folks have fallen on hard times, but unforgivable that pets and livestock have been abandoned without attempts to find alternative provision for those poor critters.

I commend you for your compassion, and taking in animals that would die horrible deaths because someone did not care any more.
I have a friend here who is becoming involved with animal rescue, and getting ready to take in unwanted pets on a fostering basis.

I hope more Sploofusers will consider doing this, too.

Godwit, if you meant my animals (and I don't mean to be presumptuous since you didn't specify you meant my little guys), no, neither has returned. I have found not even a trace of either of them anywhere.

I moved to this place specifically so the cats could go outside, as they could not at my previous home and they were always begging to go out. This place has lots of trees for them to play in and climb around. They have seemed very content here, as was I.

That is so sad, Jan. Hold on to the thought that perhaps a child found them a took them home to be loved.

I hope they return. have you checked the local shelter? Did they have licenses or microchips? It is a good idea to have a means of identification on any pet, just in case something like this happens.

They did not have microchips.

I have called and alerted every police department, animal shelter, veterinarian, etc. within 25 miles.

Oh - yes they have licenses. And property owners in this town must register their animals with the town. All have received inoculations from the local vet since I moved here.

If you are interested, in my picture gallery here is my sweet missing Sandia in picture #3 (sleeping under my Christmas tree this past December), and Winston, the missing Yorkie, at the bottom of picture #6 (with the sad sister Patches on top and Sandia in the middle).
