Last Week

Florida GOP Chairman Jim Greer released a statement this week accusing Obama of using taxpayer money to "indoctrinate" children.

"As the father of four children, I am absolutely appalled that taxpayer dollars are being used to spread President Obama's socialist ideology," Greer said.

"The idea that school children across our nation will be forced to watch the president justify his plans ... is not only infuriating, but goes against beliefs of the majority of Americans, while bypassing American parents through an invasive abuse of power."

This Week

Now that he's read what the president plans to say, Florida GOP chairman Jim Greer says he'll let his own kids watch.

"It's a good speech," Greer said. "It encourages kids to stay in school and the importance of education."

I believe it was the initial accompanying lesson plan that made many irate. That has been ammended., Personlly don't like the idea of a set lesson plan but my teaching days are done and my kids now long grown, Broward County in Florida, however, iscausing a stir as the Superintendent there is saying every child must be there and listen-contrary to the WH statement that it is not mandatory. Guees a few parents have called and said they would not send their kids to school and were told there would be punishment. Perhaps that stance has been softened. The video of the stars shoen in the Utah school that Jank posted is truly scary, I think.

Come on, guys, if you've been here any time you know Linda does not have full use of her hands (I think a stroke - but I can't remember exactly). She does great considering the disability.

Jank, think Linda can stand a little ribbing about her typing!

Stand it? She has put up with sheer cruelty about her typing before in these threads. People had finally realized her physical limits and stopped it. Or so I thought.

Jank, Linda and I have always gotten along despite our vast political differences. Sort of like you and I.

Linda I don't criticize for typo-s just always pictured you getting so up in arms your brain moved to fast for fingers! I don't think Linda needs any defending or the info that she had a stroke. She does quite well and more than gets her point across, and I totally disagree with just about everything she says!
