Don't know if it frustrates other players who do TRIVIA SQUARES
but when I am stuck on the last clue(s) of a crossword puzzle,
I have no way of finding out the answer(s) except to write to the
author and ask for help....(NOTE to Justin)

I only do this if the puzzle really interested me, and I would have given
it an 8 or a 9 rating....but then some authors don't answer - or they
decline to answer ( figuring I'm trying to cheat?)

The maximum point score is only 200, so I'm not about to cheat.
My questions are only about....
- the ability to finish the puzzle and award a rating
- the satisfaction of completing something I started

Thanks to all the authors for giving me so much pleasure by writing
these crosswords, especially Bigdave.... I really only do the WP's,
TQOTD and Trivia Squares

I will write back to ya, Rowly-Poly It is frustrating, as a maker and taker of this genre. But I don't think you are cheating if you ask to finish a puzzle that takes much longer to write, and to take. Bring it on, babe

I am absolutely stubborn about not taking the scrambled letters option and have only used it a couple of times - when it turned out the word had a spelling error in it. I have done exactly what you have Row and PMd authors - rather than them giving me the answer ourtright they have given me an additional clue - at which time I usually smack myself in the head thinking it was so obvious all the time. Rick and Bbear write great T squares and both have helped me out that way.

I haven't written a new puzzle in weeks, but Trivia Squares is my favorite genre. I also hate to resort to the scrambled letters but I'd rather do that than save it and have it waiting until my next free time. I figure half of a low point value isn't much difference, especially since there's no value and no ranking.

If you ever take any of mine, I'll be glad to give as many additional clues as you need. I've only had a couple of such requests, and one came after the player had taken the scramble option. It was just an animal name they had never seen before. I try to give picture clues on all of mine, but sometimes these clues are a puzzle also, like a rebus.

Thanks for sharing folks....
I think we Trivia Square takers should get together
and ask Justin to give us "Equal Rights and Recognition"

A crossword usually takes longer to answer than
most other Puzzles on the why are the
points so meagre????
It's about the only Puzzle that does not have multiple
choice answers.

And points/placings are "not available" on the bottom of
our pages????
