OK I just know I'm gonna miss someone but I'm gonna give it a try:
Kelley (with an "e") always makes us smile
Kelly (without the "e") always makes us run away in fear - but in a good way
Ken - funniest human
Donna - smartest human
Barry - bridge master - and all around sploofer extraordinaire
Marilyn - Queen of the WTHAI
Marsha - world traveler and dispenser of sage advice
Katy - Our own Tiki bartender
Anne, Dave and Diane - WP champs and worthy adversaries (also in a good way)

Oh heck I gotta get to work and could name a hundred more - but I think Sploofers are the best folks on the web
Thanks Jusin for bringing us together.

I'll add a few:

Allena - huge fan of his quizzes
Cenas - adds spice to Sploofus
Uclonewolfe and Kateatebate and Joee - super WTHAI solvers
IMks - funny and wise
Janks - dedicated with a good heart
Smoke - recommended a great series of Egyptian books (thanks)
Oldcougar - she and Smoke had the funniest contest between them doing WPs and the loser posting an unflattering avatar
Kaelin - she really knows her 70's music
Mitchy - "smile everybody"
Larrybus - all round smart guy, good sport and gracious
Lodi - who can ever forget her adventure in preparing a Turducken and giving us the play-by-play
Chickbref - sarcastically funny but HRH may never forgive me for solving the Jon Bon Jovi "who"
Caramel, Collieure, Bobolicious, Bigmama - passionate in their beliefs and hopefully will shake hands at the end of the day
Alvandy - all-round good guy and almost makes me want to join a union...almost
Fookie - always used to congratulate the million point winners monthly on the WR/WM...I miss that
Kaufman and Tuzilla - gave me great ideas of places to see in D.C. Thanks!

I have to stop to go to work, but I'll add more later. These folks and MANY more add a diverseness to Sploofus that make it entertaining, fun and very interesting ... and I mean that in a very good way!

.....

Smaug - the man, the myth, legend...and at his wittiest, nobody is more bitingly funny
JSterling - used to play a made-up version on Name that Tune in the Shoutbox on WM/WR. He is crackerjack good at that!
Swiper - when I used to write quizzes, she always took them and consistently sent me PMs of encouragement. Just never told her how much I appreciated that.
Salzypat - level headed and always has insightful posts
Love to get the perspective from non-U.S. Sploofusers like Bushyfox, Surreyman, Dynemite, Clevercloggs and Larefamiliaris, among many others.
Vicrowe - when I see her screen name, I know I'm going to read something heart felt and positive
Rowlanda - who could not like someone who dated one of the Beatles!
Chyenn - one of the bravest women.
Our resident docs: Slicko (amazing!! and almost makes me want to listen to opera...almost) and Rjenson (who knew we had a Deadhead in our midst??)
Garrybl - tough competitor and introduced me to the term Word Puzzle "setter."
Linenlady was gracious in sharing tips on how to improve your speed in WR/WM, and Chick shared them with me and others

There are many more I haven't mentioned yet, but you've all added much to the community. For new players and ones who've been around awhile and don't post, please jump in and add your flavor to the Salty Dog!

As Donden would say "onward and upward"!

Dyenmite - zany, wacky -- like one of the Marx brothers! - bright and fun

Vicrow - the resident cheerleader and "Power of Positive Thinking" generator

Rowlanda - Courageous in her health battle this past winter, dog lover, good friend

Tresgators - Dedicated, hard-working, facilitator, helpful

Caramel1 - Determined, dedicated, outspoken (but at least you know where she stands), intelligent

Clevercloggs - Knowledgeable, intelligent, thought-provoking posts (although I don't always agree!), clever, has a tough outside but I suspect he's more of a marshmellow inside (personal opinion only)

Donden - Biting but funny wit, a "character"

Naomi - Heart of gold, funny, friendly

Tuzilla - Puts forth good, positive ideas for things to make Sploofus better (story-writing contest for example), helpful, encouraging

I know I'll think of others that haven't been mentioned here yet because I've made some good friends on Sploofus and their positive characteristics are outstanding.

What a nice idea!
I hate to "tag" people. It's ununusual that I have cross words with anyone. Some stand out as being all around lovely people all the time...Old Cougar; Alvandy; Vicrowe. I've missed some and apologize to those whose names don't appear.

I enjoy the posts by Lodi and HRH Chick, always full of humor and sarcasm. Both are quick witted and so lively....good stuff.

I have strong respect and admiration for BigMama. She remains steadfast in her views in the face of strong opposition. My hat is off and thumb is up!

Conversely both Linda and Andy have my respect for the same reasons. I just don't share their views but I respect them and I admire their tenacity.

When it boils down to it-when thoughts and prayers are requested, we all pitch in. At the heart of we're a fine group of people. It just seems that when a disagreement occurs, it's a strong one!

This thread is a welcome addition to the Salty Dog [sometimes too Salty]. This one oozes of sugar and spice- and that’s nice!
I’ve been a member since October 2007 and in the past 23 months or so, a lot of wonderful people and some awesomely talented players have graced Sploofus and made it the website that it is. I appreciate the many who have sent private messages or posted well wishes as I continue to recover from my “lost summer” due to vision problems.
For all its occasional “burps” and “hiccups” in its functionality, this trivia site is worth being a member, and a paying member to boot. That is how Sploofus will survive and grow. Is it addicting? [you fill the blank for yourself]. Viva Sploofus.
For me, the points and levels really don’t matter [okay, that’s a fib; I hate missing a TQOTD: any wager opportunity and losing a showdown]. That’s when my peppermint patties come in handy to soothe my ego.
Since I have taken up so much space already, I’ll just say “ditto” to most of the comments already posted here. This is a great Salty Dog!
But here are a few people that I will acknowledge during this post.
Davidf- a really nice guy and a friend who developed a website for me awhile back
Knerd- compassionate and caring; a joy to know
Pennsylvania member players - keystones one and all! [Slicko; Pennwoman; Lancaster; Naomi et al]
Dyenamite- what a fantastic “bloke”
Donden- what a sense of humor; lightens up the place at the right time
Smoke- 50 million Elvis and NASCAR fans can’t be wrong- but doesn’t express her opinions much [oops another fib]

Loyal union members all over the world- [ c’mon pepperdoc-join the bandwagon]
Rjenson- what a great doc, dad and jensai ; his “rap” song on his daughter’s wedding video was fantastic
Jank0614- we don’t agree about politics but the world needs more like her. A special person; so many random acts of kindness. [And if you just read her post right before me- - she just proved it.]

Trivia Alchemist- he built a heck of an island! Let’s help him keep the beaches from eroding.
Sploofernatural- my anonymous editor- just great to work with- and he[she] has taught me how to count [most of the time]

To all others- Sploof on!

(sploofinder! heehee! What you said was better than what I was going to say!) - so Al, now my post is below instead of above. I just messed up everything!

Pennwoman - Such a sweety - to us all
Mitchy - You are sunshine!
Sherilynn - A kind and good person!
urladyinwaitin - Loves God so much, and when prayer is requested - she just starts praying and writing it down - I can literally feel the Holy Spirit when you pray!
Uturntama - Inspirational and lovely!
Nanpaulhus - A good friend and sister in Christ
Kaelin - Jesus shines through you. I miss you here, but glad I get to read your FB posts
Erin0620 - Such a joyful lady
Dwayla - Talk about a wonderful person who is so brilliant!
Diva - You're not my sister in Christ, I guess, but definitely my sister in God and in truth! LOVE the hat! And the company in the picture! hahaha
Chyenn - Such a lady - an overcomer, a fighter, a winner!
Collioure - Man, I wish you were a journalist for our local paper. You go after a story like a German Shepherd and you don't let go till you have the stuff on 'em.
Allena - You are a foundation of Sploofus, and you keep me in stitches all the time - I appreciate every story you share or forward
Felix - heehee!!!!! What can I say - I'm a cat lover! You just cut through the baloney.
Puppyfoot - A soul sister who loves others the way Christ asks us to.
Spacecat - You're a hoot and a brother!
Virtus - I can sincerely say I can talk to you about subjects I don't discuss with others here - I mean, heck, they wouldn't understand anyway, huh?! haha

Oh, I forgot. Al said I described him incorrectly and he asked for an upgrade (or down?) - so since truth means a lot to me, here is the revision:
Alvandy- very near sighted; lazy farmer (he just doesn't get it! And soooooooo stingy with trees!); union guy; PA 'dutchified"; peppermint flavored breath (I wouldn't know since I live a gazillion miles away, but I'll take his word for it); possibly stinkin' smart (or possibly just stinkin'?) ; committed to something; tolerant of Texans (yeehaw)

Dyenamite - oi, oi, oi! What a great guy.
Bushyfox - Sweet and you should just SEE all the great recipes that gal has posted to the foodies group!
Bbear - LOVE your quizzes and WP's

Justin - King of Sploof! Thanks for finding this island for all us trivia geeks. If anyone ever finds themselves complaining about glitches in the system, just take a look at how often you log in anyway just to see what all these great peeps are up to. I think my hubby is scheduling an intervention for me.

All the folks whose quizzes I've taken.

All the folks who've taken my quizzes.

All those who keep SD from being (too) confrontational.

All those who put forth their heartfelt opinions on controversial issues, whether I agree with you or not.

All those who ask for prayers for others, and those who pray in response, and those who need prayers but haven't asked, and yes, even those who don't pray.

Sploofus wouldn't be the same without you, and I appreciate you for that.

Thank you.

Everybody that even includes the ones who say I make stuff up; I poke fun and name call. Yea, I noticed I haven' had to explain to Andy anything he doesn't want to understand is my opinion. I'm not sure I miss that. I hope he's okay.

My list is very long, and sort of like an awards show, you don't really want to get started cause you know you'll leave someone out.

But special thanks have to go to Bev/Bushyfox for taking me under her wing when I first got here.

And since what I love to do most is take Word Puzzles, I need to mention my favorite Word Puzzle authors - but I'm so senile I cannot even remember who most of them are.
Lynnm stands out
Also
Garrybl
Tuzilla
Kaufman
Slicko

Marynuala for general brilliance
Maurlin, Allena, Kaufman and Summertime (yum) and Geniuswaitress (who appears to be gone - how sad) for quizzes

And all my homies - you know who you are - for truly making this home.

Thanks to Headylamar for a refreshingly positive post! There are so many people in this Sploofus world to celebrate. Here are a few of my favorites:
Island sweethearts - Toledosugar, Uclonewolf, Nelly, Jeanette, Vickie, Pepper, F5laur, Salzypat, Rowlanda, 1mks
Smartasses that I can't get enough of - Chick, Lodi, Smaug, Donden, Oogie, Ken, Jeremy, Taz
Passionate and bold (appreciate it even if I don't always agree) - Bbear, Linda, Jank, Tsk, Andy, Smoke
People who just always make me smile - Godwit, Monkeynips, Mistymented, Rach 66, Erin, Koota, Mitchy, Sandracam, Pennwoman, Quackinator, Virtus, Sun
Slicko and Garrybl are 2 guys that are too smart for their own good, but they have hearts of gold
I enjoy Dynamite's energy and optimism
Rhayader, you are a great sport
DavidF, you are the sweetest and most gentle of souls - and I admire your creativity so much
And, last, but certainly not least - AlVandy - you remind me of Superman - fighting for the underdogs of the world. You are the most fair minded individual that I have met in cyberspace - and kind - and I love your peppermints!

Another vote for Smaug, who e-mailed me and gave me suggestions when I was having trouble at work a few years ago.

Of course Bushyfox who is another one of this site's sweetest people. She has a truly gentle nature.

Then there's Tallactor who insists on beating me by 3 or 4 points in Word Twist or Wordscraper on Facebook -- it like he dangles the "carrot" of the possibility of a win in front of me and then beats me. Drat!

Wait, we can't forget Revdodd who has also been a source of support when I've needed advice for a work situation. He can be such a character! We don't hear much from him these days because I'm guessing he's snowed under with work.

I think SYL listed the whole membership list! I know I'll come up with more names. (to be continued)

For their kindness and friendliness-1Mks, Uclonewolf, Koota, Knerd, Rowlanda, Lucimoore, Vicrowe, Cheyenn, Sun

Double dang! Pennwoman, Sandracam, Bigmama, Virtus (who's name in my head is pronounced Virtuous), Knerd, SoutYL, BigBird, Bbear, Hayden (sorry, can never remember how Bbear's better half's screen name is spelled) and I know I'm leaving off others.

You are so right, the more names that post and list, the more people I'm remembering and apparently having temporary amnesia over.
This is kind of like my favorite salad: I start with a base of greens, add a couple of proteins, some cheese, a couple of different fruits, some chopped veggies and maybe some nuts. When it's all mixed together with a tart dressing, it's pretty good. Much better than the individual ingredients alone.

GROUP HUG! (Even to the grumpies who hate things like this. )

"A friend is someone who knows the song in your heart, and can sing it back to you when you have forgotten the words."

A thank you to all the people here who have made me smile - you know who you are. Whether its picking up the phone and hearing the sweetest southern drawl you've ever heard in your life, to sitting up late chatting about anything and everything, or even just hearing that you've made someone else smile.

Special thanks to Smaug for no longer calling me Gimli the Stout Dwarf. That's hard on a girl's self esteem. Not mine of course, but it could be to someone's. Well, off to the gym.....

This morning, I'll add some unforgettable stalwarts of Sploofus who already are/ should be on most everyone's list:
Famed bowling broadcaster Fred Wolf [Championship Bowling from many years ago] always ended the show with:
"You Don't Have to Play A Sport Good....... To Be A Good Sport".
Sploofus is full of good sports [with an occasional dose of curmudgeonry mixed in ] . The world keeps turning anyway.

* Bushyfox
* Virtus
* Lodi
* Chickfbref
* 1mks
* Lucimoore
* Linda/Caramel
* Mplaw51
* Suzannec
* Felix
* Collioure
* Fudypatootie
* Bobolicious
* any one who enjoys peppermint patties
* any one who believes York, PA was first capital of united states
those last two should have added about 10,000 Sploofusers to the list

Have a great day!

Wow, great thread. Makes me realize that I miss a lot by "flying low," i.e., abstaining from most of the Salty Dog conversations, particularly those that are political. I've always been impressed by the many nice people here, and the strong relationships developed through this website. This thread more than confirms that.

Being a "low flyer," I have to admit that a lot of my interactions have been brief and I can't provide a full list of kudos. But to those of you who given me a pat on the back, a quick response to one of my posted questions, etc., thank you.

However, I do want to mention six individuals by name: Alvandy, Slicko, Virtus, Smoke, JSterling, and Garrybl. Each of these folks proves the inaccuarcy of the statement "Nice guys finish last." All six have been exceptionally nice to me since I joined Sploofus, and all six are brilliant.
